Xenos Rampant: Kindred vs Weird War German Werewoles vs Cool Blue Meanies

Been a while since we dusted these off...
As usual with Xenos Rampant, the game was high paced and I did not take enough photos, sorry!

Decided to take my Kindred, as I haven't used them yet.
What are Kindred?
Think late WW1 era British infantry, but actually Halflings, with laser rifles, lewis guns, and bare feet, with putees!
These are actially my MkII Kindred, as the original Kindred went to someone else alongwith my Grymm and other sci-fi stuff, but, I have no idea who.

Kindred:
3 x Light Infantry with Armour Piercing and 2 with Heavy Weapons
1 x Support with Armour Piercing and Heavy Weapons (Vickers HMG team)
1 x Armoured vehicle (MkIV tank) with armour piercing and slow

Mark brought his werewolf backed Weird War WW2 Germans,
2 x Greater Xenos with Razor Sharp Blades
1 x Elite Infantry (HQ)
1 x Heavy Infantry
1 x Recon Infantry with sniper upgrade.

Dave brought something Blue from Warmachine (henceforth refered to as Cool Blue Meanies).
4 x lesser Xenos with razor sharp blades
2 x Hordes
1 x Support weapons
Not sure of his upgrades

Objective was to hold the crashed spaceship when one faction went out of commission.
It was a real mixed bag of armies. Dave was set up to fight hand-to-hand as he had met Mark's Werewolves last week. Mine was a shooty force, and the boss rolled a 5 on tactical, giving him a free shoot action for one unit in 12", useful for a shooting force. Mark's is a really well set-up combined arms force, but with -1 leadership as he blew that roll!

Mark and I deployed opposite corners of one edge and Dave took the middle of the opposite edge.

A couple of turns in, most of my firces were hiding in the thicket bottom right, as Mark's sniper teams were already chewing lumps out of my HMG. Mark has an injured werewolf skulking in the central ruin, waiting to pounce (my Vickers HMG had hit him round 1). Dave's lesser xenos were surging forwards, supported by the Blue Meanies. One crashes into my MkIV on a wild charge.

Unfortunately for him, Fray Bentos runs over his foot, forcing him to retreat. He would soon be polished off by combined tank and small arms fire.

This would also upset the Blue Meanies behind, who fell back, surpressed, under fire. They had tried to assault Fray Bentos the Tank too, but their stout wooden clubs had just bounced ineffectivly off the hull. A second Lesser Xenomorph had been blown to smithereens by Kindred combined firepower too after several failed 'Wild Charges' on my tank.

Between Mark and myself, a long range firefight broke out. With his snipers and Heavy Infantry getting the better of the shooting, he wore down my CinC's unit, which eventually failed morale, withdrew into the thicket, upon rallying, it was shot to.pieces, wrecking my morale and returning the bulk of the Kindred back to their start lines (There And Back Again, typical), also he took out my Vickers HMG team. His heavy infantry was below half-strength, but even on one d6, kept passing it's morale with nothing but 6s.

The view from the kindred lines.

Mark's second werewolf, the one not cowering in the ruins, had happily munched through one of Dave's lesser xenomorphs, his second squad of Blue Meanies, had chewed lumps out of Dave's support weapons squad, and eventually did for Dave's boss Xenonorph too, only to be offed in the same combat. Bit cinematic boys!

Despite Fray Bentos the Tank's best efforts, blowing away the other werewolf who finally broke cover, it was never going to be fast enough to crash onto the objective in time. As Dave's last units died, Mark was firmly in control of the objective with his super-elite-vampire-led-nasty troops.

A super, high-paced game with lots of laughs. A few mistakes due to rustiness with the rules, but a lot of fun.

Black Powder 1870 Stats and Modifications

1870 Franco-Prussian Conflict in Black Powder Hi all, If you are reading this, it's because. like us, you are Black Powder fans and want to know how we manage the Franco-Prussian War. Anything below is by no way official, just the house rules we have developed over the last few years of playing. A few thoughts first: Fighting in the period is best described as hard fought assaults by Prussians, supported by superior artillery against superior but very strong defensive French lines. All ranges and movements are in cm scale, just to be awkward! All my forces are modelled on 3” square bases, apart from divisional commanders, skirmishers and artillery which have a frontage of 1½” and Corp commanders who are on a 2” base. Feel free to ignore that. My units are regiments of infantry,   brigades of cavalry and skirmish squadrons of cav. Artillery is either battalion as one gun, or a battery of two guns on a base, horse artillery have limbers attached. Army composition...

Mortal Gods

Footsore recently released this rather fun game, based around 28mm skirmish fighting in ancient Greece. Tried it at Campaign, then got a set for my birthday from Manny and Rob at Boards and Swords . This month's batch of Mortal God's figures, some new, some old. Athenians - bought when the rules first came out in 2019, just after doing evveryone elses's stuff, I had lost the mojo to do these, plus my Thespians have been serving me well. But, with the great shed tidy, and continued popularity amoung my friends, it was about time. The Athenian set had lead heroes, and plastic hoplites/peripoli, but I decide that I can use any of my other hopilites to fill in for the citizens, and that actaully, I sould get on with the lead. Athenian Marine hoplites - regular state troops, as opposed to my irregular Thespians Top down With Athenian shields from the boxed set Ready to go Regular, armoured, marine archers "Hit that one!"
