MeG Crusader period try out vs Paul

Last week, Paul and I headed up to Leighton Buzzard Wargames club for a try out game of Crusader period armies of ' God Wills It ' a competition later in the year. So, if you look very carefully, you will see random 10mms and 15mms proxying in to units in my army as I tried something completely leftfield. This was actually our second try out, I was struggling to find a list in the Crusader period that I really liked, but after Paul completely tonked my attempt at Later Lithuanians the week before 0-15, I needed something different. I keep trying mounted forces, they really aren't for me. So, a foot army, but which one? That might get revealed later, or not, depends how well it goes ! (Do you know how difficult it is to try and write a match report without revealing details). Terrain, very dense, but EVERYTHING I put down Paul rolled a 6 for. 5 x 6 in a row, and his terrain choices hit the forest and bounced out! Swear that die is weighted, coz when I roll it it puts ou

The Battle of Aylesbury Vale ReG ECW, Eastern Assocition Parlimentarian vs Royalist Oxford army.

1644. The King's army from Oxford had sallied forth to Oxford, to be met by Cromwell's forces of the Eastern Association somewhere near the River Thame in the Vale of Aylesbury. Andy very kindly invited me over to the Aylesbury club on Friday night to continue my scholarship in REG. Andy has a beautiful collection of ECW units, thoroughly researched with custom made flags for each unit, whereas mine are nearer completion than their last outing but still not finished (sorry, I did add 3 units this week)! Cromwell's scouts know the area well, and force 60% of the Royalists to deploy first. On the left, my two Cromwellian horse, plus an average parlimentary horse face down two lines of enemy cavalry, including the fearsome PwinceWupert Prince Rupert and his personal bodyguard. In the center a dragoon unit and my six foot (four average, two superior veterans) face five foot, three average and two poor, plus another three average cavalier cavalry! We both have batteries cent

ReG ECW Parlimentatian Eastern Association vs Swedish

*CAUTION! The following post contains images of unpainted and unbased figures that some wargamers might find upsetting, those of a Neophobic disposition are advised to look away now!* Well, it's been a while since I played ReG. The last time was back in 2018 in Oxford . Since then the rules and lists underwent quite a redraft and lots of testing, and I had decided, in my own insanity, that I should hold off playing until they were released for real as I knew I would confuse the old version with the new. Also, two years of Lockdowns, but we won't go on about that. So, ECW Parlimentarian, Eastern association. My old friend Dave had recently sold me his 15mm ECW collection from the late 90s when he played DBR, they were undercioatedm but not much more.  I was determined to get them painted and used, which is why the army has some painted but unbased troops. Why Parlementains? Three reasons, one: an ancestor is James Whalley, a regicide (allegedly). b) I live in the East of Engla
