Mortal Gods - Battle of The Chrysoú Pómlou. Thespians vs Spartans

Polykratos looked at the ground ahead of them, several patches of scrub interspersed the rocky outcrops that dominated the area. Leandros looked over and as usual, grinned confidently and waved as he set off. He obviously was going straight up the largest hill, and would take the peltasts with him. Tychon the archer had already headed out with the archers to hold the right. Polykratos turned round to Jeff, the musician, shrugged and looked at the hoplites as they moved up in line ahead of him, supported by the meager shooting of the slingers. "Not good terrain for a shieldwall, we are going to be busy supporting everyone!" Jeff nodded, and played out a jaunty tune on the pipes to encourage the men on.    David came round for a game, we played on a narrow table (as that's all I've got at the moment) with our usual warbands, my Thespians, David's Spartans. David set the terrain, and we threw a straight up scrap with no unusual deployment or missions. The big hill do...

Mortal Gods - Three Sided scrap - finding the treasure.

Typhon woke up, his head was banging, and there would definitely be a new scar on hi sarm... "Nice to see you can take a knock too!" Leandros looked over at the archer. Polykratos sat on a nearby boulder, helmet and shield at his feet, sword bloodied, he was smiling at his two fellow fighters. "Nice to see you two sleepy heads. By the way, we won! Spartans and Etruscans all sent packing, treasures secrured!" Dave, David and I met up for a game of Mortal Gods. Mark was meant to be joining us, but he had to call off. This is only a quick report, as we were haing too much of a laugh! Six objecties were scattered across the field, which you have to find and hold until the end of turn 5. One would go live on a roll of '6', if an action was expended on it. The others then are empty. Three sides means two corners and an edge. 450 points each. I was nearest, Dave the other corned, David the opposite edge.My standard warband took to the field, with their eyes firmly...

Mortal Gods - Two fights in an evening

"Reports are we have had a traitor in our midst, and he's legged it over to the Spartans" Leandros looked at his assembled troops, Tychon looked at his archers, "Got plenty of arrows lads, we are going to be busy." Polykratos looked over the ruins, "Very odd ruins today, is the style Persian or something?" Tycho leaned forwards to the slingers, extra bullets made up? Peltasts with loads of javelins."  The hoplites with the forces nudged ded each other and muttered, about the shooty types getting all teh glory, "You guys will be definitely busy," Leandros looked at the heavies, "there's lots of hoplites to beat up." "By the way," Polykratos looked at Jeff the  mousikos, "they say the Spartans think you betrayed them to us." "They just didn't like my new song list, man!" "What, the one you called 'Hey, Sparta, you suck!"    David and I met up for an evening of Mortal Gods fun, M...

Free the captives - A Mortal Gods Game

"So, let me get this straight," enquired Tychon stringing his bow, "we are picking a fight with Spartans over a bunch of valuable resources?" Leandros looked at the archer, and under his kranoa, raised an eyebrow, "If you mean free a bunch of captives, who are set to become slaves, yes " Polykratos slapped the Lochagos on the back "All very noble, but you know slavery is the engine which drives all our economies." "But not as helots." "Fair point." David popped over for a fight a couple of weeks back. His Spartan types taking on the might of my Thespian horde. Scenario was a five turn, objective grab. Two points for the central one, one point each for the others. David insisted on using his slaves. Don't zoom in too closely. Randomly placed terrain landed the big hill in David's deployment area, the temple of Artemis in mine. A quick dive forwards secures objectives one, while Tychon and the archers draw a bead on Dav...
