Xenos Rampant: Commanche and unlikely allies vs Weird War 2 Werewolf Germans

WARNING, THOSE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION, LOOK AWAY NOW, THIS BATTLE REPORT MAY CONTAIN UNBASED MODELS!  Last Wednesday, Mark and I got together for a game or two of Xenos Rampant, we both decided to pick forces BEFORE choosing our scenarios, as it makes for some interesting games (in the rules, you are allowed to alter your forces to suirt the scenario, which is a thoroughly civilised thing to do if you ask me). Mark chose to use his Weird War 2 Germans, (3 Greater Xenomorphs, 2 squads of elite infantry - all with no upgrades. I used my Commanche /Skraelings (based on Prey) with a few viking allies! HQ Naru - Primative infantry, armour, combat medic 3 x 15 figure Primative infantry mobs with primative shooting. 1 x Vikings 10 Berserker infantry, heavy armour, boarding shields, unarmed. Scenario 1: Convoy Escort We rolled a random scenario and got Convoy Escort!!! Neither force was geared up for that, so we rolled a dice, and I was escorting the trucks (it would have made sense if...

28mm ECW for Pikemans Lament

FINALLY added the flag from Iain at Flags of War .   A lock down project. These figures were given to me by Mark sometime during the 00s! A real mix of Foundry, Essex, Redoubt and who knows what else!! Mort at Leighton Buzzard Wargames Club got me playing , after I won a copy of the rules at Rollcall last year. 24 points of Pikeman's Lament troops. So, the forces: My forces are firecly pro-Parliament/independent (maybe)! Led by 'The Lion of the North' Lt James Whalley Esq., they are a rag tag bunch willing to take on all comers. Proost Devlin Strengthening-Fields' Dragoons, his aim is to have them literate and employable after this unpleasentness is over. Edmund's Ironsides, elite gallopers and uttely brutal when joined by Whalley himself. Not sure why Mark - fiercely Royalists until late - had Roundhead heavies... Baron Barry Bickerdykes Big Blue Bonnetted Boomers  - elite shot unit, verterans of many campaigns. They found a supp...

Two games of A Pikeman's Lament

WARNING, THIS POST CONTAINS UNPAINTED FIGURES, THOSE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION SHOULD LOOK AWAY NOW! Back to Leighton Buzzard last night, and Mort had kindly invited me to join him in a game of Pikeman's Lament . I had a quick rootle around the garage and found the bucket of spare ECW that Mark had gien me at least fifteen years ago, and slapped some paint on five units over the weekend. Well, 3.5 outta 5 ain't bad ! I rolled ' Lion of The North ' a handy two rerolls per combat, perfectly suited to Ensign Whalley and his band. We put our figures out on table, just to see what we've got. Jarkko's house makes a reappearance. More formal deployments: Mort deploys a unit of commanded foot on the hill, his trotters behind, two sleeves of shot and a pike unit centrally, and his dragoons towards the wood. Wupert's (not related) Pikes are shielded by the rough terrain, my vetern shot Baron Barry Bickerdykes Big Bonnetted Boomers (unpainted) towards th...
