Test of Honour - Battle of the Mill Temple

Well, it's been all a minute!  Neil suggested a game of Test of Honour, which neither of us have played since Neil absolutely trounced me in my first attempt at playing... My list was almost the same, The boss was an Onna Bugeisha as my armoured samurai hero , a devoted samurai follower and a battleworn samurai as retainers, bows, arquibusiers, spears. This time I dropped the second spears and took a veteran Ashugari sergeant and a single spearman to get to exactly 24 points.  My mob assembled. Neil putting his boys through their paces.  I mean, it's great looking terrain Neil owns. Really looks atmospheric.  Oh yeah, he split his forces in two, either side of the stream, so I matched him as much as possible. His bows and spears cone down Neil's left, his hero clashes with mine. My retainer follows up as Neil's crosses the bridge. My ashugaru with Tepu unleash a volley at the Samurai crossing the bridge. And their shots strike true!  Neil's first gero is ...

Test of Honour - First game. Take the bridge

Wednesday - Leighton Buzzard. Neil kindly took me through the Test of Honour rules. It's similar to Mortal Gods. Neil's terrain is beautiful. My single building sits off, left. We went for a stand up fight, Neil arrived at the riverlet first, but found it uncrossable apart from at the bridge (random rol;). My force, (borrowing Neil's cards) three Samurai of different types, and four units of Ashugaru: two spear, one archers, one arquibusiers - 23 points. Sure there is a way of getting it to 24... Neil had two samurai, two spear armed Ashugaru, two archers and a shooter too. My shooting forces escort the fighting types in. My battleworn samurai is behind the shrine center-left, My first shot, the dice are slightly different to Mortal Gods (no wild/pegasus for instance). I got hits, but Neil also saved loads more. My Battleworn Samurai took a series of serious hits from shooting here. Passed his 'Test of Honour', but took an arm injury. -1 attack dice. Drat! The acti...

28mm Uesugi Samurai for Test of Honour - Bad Squiddo, Sarissa, Footsore

As ever, I arrive late to the party when my local club tries out new rules. From the 'Mortal Gods' stable of rules from Footsore, my first game is against Neil on Wednesday (who sold me the Oathsworn figures) plus three female fighters, I had bought off the Great Bad Squiddo. Decided to paint them as my favourite clan Uesgui, which I already have in 10mm and have loved using for MeG and ReG.   Top view   I also bought a Sarissa farm building, to have something to fight over.   Beautiful sculpts, love the armour They've come up alright   Samurai retainer Ready for action   He cuts both ways!   Tepo armed ashugaru   They go bang!   Spear armed ashugaru   Brace! "Will you watch where you are putting that!" Archers   "Pull!" The other side of the farm   Couldn't hit... Or that side

15mm Samurai army for a friend - four Ashugaru spear units and a unit of tepo.

"Everyone should paint Samurai army once!" Well, this will be my third. Still paying off the debt of replumbing our house, these are for my friend Adrian bought a pile of Two Dragon and Dixon Miniatures Samurai second hand last year off a mutual friend.   The biggest batch is done, four units of Ashugaru spearmen, on threes and fours to a base to represent flaxibility between loose and close in each unit. Each unit is colourcoded by belt colour, and I also found enough Ashugaru with Tepo to do another four bases of those too. It's a LOT of figures! First two units. There is one Samurai figure in each command stand because it looks cool! Red and pale blue Advancing These actually look good! Other two units, Green and Yellow The two stripped banner is in case the owner needs to class one unit as allied Steady lads! Line or depth? Ashugaru with tepu and a log! There is also a samurai in this unit, just because... Top view Aim... Hold! And this wa...
