Canari vs Ghaznavis and then Senguko Samurai at the Ice and Fire MeG Tournement

They say it comes in 3s... Well, this was the weekend for it! Ice and Fire, organised by Ray at Battlefield Hobbies saw 32 of us using non-European lists to beat the snot out of each other in a friendly manner (in my case, literally, more on that later). My list, it's my developing Canari. I knew there were issues going in to this. It had beaten Mark Spratt 15-4 and 15-8 vs his Mongols and Samurai, but against the wider gaming community I wasn't so sure. Game 1 vs Hammy and Ghaznavid This was always going to be a tough game, Hammy is good, his list was tasty, his elephants were armoured, his cavalry was superior, he's too nice a guy, it was his shop... Enough excuses Will! Things started well enough, when an all foot army outscouts a cavalry heavy army by 20%. Green 10%, Yellow 20% and Red 40%, my hopes were up. The terrain decided to go only in the fanks, or fall off, so the centre was bare! I did get two man-eating (casuse KaB) swamps down, a wood, a forest and a secu

Chinese dragon for Paul

Paul, one of my friends, is busy with a Chinese 15mm MeG army. Paul is one of the best painters around, so to do this for him was a hoot! Alternative armies 15mm Oriental Dragon fitted the bill pretty perfectly! Paul will base to fit his army, but now we need to decide what it is? Exceptional warwagon with heavy artillery maybe? Ming the merciless? Not really Chinese draghons are benevolent. From the back Scares the pants off me!

Wooden spoon for Ice & Fire MeG competition

Spoon for Ice and Fire 2024 now done., two years on and the competition theme is reborn. Non European lists a Gogo  This weekend is another MeG comp, themed Ice and Fire and non-European lists. Struggled with inspiration for this one, until I saw a fire and Ice ying-yang that was morphing shapes into dragon forms, so I modified the idea into a pair of ice and fire dragons locked in combat. Sure there is a Dragonlance scene of Reds vs Blues... One way up, one dragon looks like it is winning. Rotate it and the other dragon wins! The cycle goes ever on... It was about 2.5hrs painting

MeG Demo day at Battlefield Hobbies, then a game vs Rob

The dust of the storm cleared, Pteppic looked out towards the enemy chariot line deploying in a never ending dust cloud.. "Oh, here we go again!" he muttered "Pre-Vedic Indian. Maybe we should just wait for them to find Vedic?" he mused. Arbath Ray dusted himself off, spitting grit out of his mouth and taking a swig of water. "Wonder what they did to upset Psamtic? He's looking a bit miffed." "How can you tell, he's wrapped in bandages?"   Last Saturday I headed up to the gaming hub of Battlefield Hobbies to help Si out with demoing MeG Pacto (think DBA, but with teeth) to some keen new players, then in the afternoon Rob and I settled down to a game of Meg Maximus (the normal sized game I report on here) using our two armies that did not meet at Warfare.  Pacto Gauls vs Romans I had drawn up two lists based on what I knew Si had in his collection of rebase s. The Indomnitable Gauls was a BIG force of 14 TuGs, the Romans was 9 TuGs includ
