Wooden Spoon for Skull Rollers/MEG Grand Tournement this weekend

This is the biggest annual competition for Mortem et Gloriam, so I really put in the effort into painting this design* As ever, a pain to photograph because of flat surface and metallics. Based on the beautiful 2014 Wendy Gaffeney original, I just added a skulls as the competition is also known as 'Skull Rollers' due to MeG dice having skulls for kills... Mortem et Gloriam - Hausa Kingdoms vs Milanese.

Andy and I met up at the Aylesbury Wargames club, where he very kindly offered to put my Grand Tournement army through the wringer it's paces.   Knowing my list is locked in, and without diverging too many details about its present format, but we met on the plains of Kano, Nigeria, and all the terrain fell off the right of the table! This is just the messy bit before we got going, honest!   Pre Battle Sequence and I outscouted the invading Italians by 30%, so it was basically thirds deployement all the way (Please can all the pedants make their arguements about whether it should be the difference between between 30% and a 1/3 now please, there is a .3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 difference waiting to be given a good home). Panoramic iew of Andy's rather magnificent Milanese, quite a lot of Blue Moon, a great deal of Mike's Modles and a pile of Donnington Ancient and Moderns, all beautifully painted too. Giraffes by Pendraken. Extra zoomed in, without the

Renedra/Pendraken 28mm wattle fences.

Painted a pack of the lovely 28mm wattle fences from Pendraken/ Renedra , think they are superb. https://www.pendraken.co.uk/nren-rn15-nwattle-fencing-grey-6102-p.asp Top down

Burrows and Badgers - attack on the camp

Matilda the ferret shook her head,  wiping the blood off from behind her ear. "I don't understand why I'm the one who is always the first hurt." she moaned. Sir Dereck held out a paw to help her up from the ground. "Must be something about you." "We had them cornered, caught by surprise at their camp, a new gang in the area, should have been easy pickings." "Gotta admit, odd place to camp," Smalls added, looking at the statue of the fallen mouse hero that the other gang had slept around, "I'd 'ave gone for one of the 'ouses meself." "Not all of us believe breaking and entry should not be a crime Smalls!" the fallen knight grinned, "the plan was good, and Neddy hitting that hound, what was he called?" "Elvis." "Didn't he used to work at the chip shop?" "Anyway, Neddy hitting Elvis with a crossbow bolt at long range was impressive, and certainly signalled out intentions.
