Wooden Spoon for Chariots of Fire Mortem Et Gloriam 2025

 Another competition, another spoon!

28mm rebasing of Ghaznavids, Almoravid/Almohads and added unit of Dailami for Mortem et Gloriam

Many, many years ago, on a stormy (or maybe frosty, probabaly just rainy) while playing WhAB up at Milton Keynes, a man walked into the club, plonking two or three old fashioned LARGE toolboxes on a table and declaring "I dodn't need these any more!" and walking out. One of our clubmates followed him out, and asked whether he wanted anything for them, he firmly declared no, and left. Never to be seen again! We divied out the boxes, and as we were building armies for the 'El Cid' suppliment, a quick roll-off on a d6 each, I got the last choice of an Arabic type army, which on further investigtion, turned out to be Ghaznavid. So, a quick order to Gripping Beast bought some Black Guard, generals/characters and standard bearers andmusicians. Then I rebased them for WhAB and used them for Almoravid/Almohads. Many moons later, I rebased them again for MeG is 28mm as we are practising the Magna varient (and if you read my last battle report, without much suc...

Mortiem Et Gloriam: Magna - Ghaznavids vs Lancastrians

Ahh, the anatomy of a loss! Mark and I met up at Leighton Buzzard Wargames club for a friendly game of MeG, using the Magna (28mm) variant. I have been rebasing my inherited Ghaznavid/Andalusian/Arabs of late (there will be future post about these), so when Mark suggested Magna I agreed and tried to build a viable list with what I've got. Mark, fresh off getting a drubbing at Campaign with his army, was looking for blood! The terrain fell as featureless, a waterway held one side, which we both anchored our camps on, and Mark got a piece of rough going. That was it. My army was based around combined arms, Mark's around a great slab of powerbows! I out scouted him by 30%, but what came out was scary for my mainly cavalry army! On the right, two units of billmen support four units of retinue archer and artillery! The rough going is held by mercenary crossbows, on the left, two more archer units, a ubit of hand gunners, dismounted men-at-arms and a unit of heavy knights. Most of ...

Wooden Spoons for MeG at Campaign 2024

It's that time of year again! Three themes this year in the MeG team events are Britannia - 55BCE to 900CE, 'Don't Tell Them Your Name Pike' (any army with two or more TuGs/units of Pikes), and Open 28mm (which has turned into Italian Wars) Britannia Conculcabitor Don't Tell Them Your Name, Pike! Open 28mm 'Das Wud Teuer!'

EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT - Wooden Spoon for Rollcall this weekend.

Due to the organiser being ill, an emergancy soon was needed for this weekend. The 28mm MeG pool is open themed, but nearly all the armies were Roman or Italian Wars in our pool, the spoon idea popped into my headbased on a comment by a friend:- "I see three of us didn't get the Italian Wars memo!" It only took an hour and a half tonight, but I actually prefer this one!    And now a wooden spoon for Rollcall this weekend!  It's an Easter weekend competition, so here's Bugs...
