Mortien et Gloriam - Chariots of Fire Biblical competition - a prelude.

Ptepic looked around, each of his eyes slowly focussing back to normality as Ptraci and Youbastard the camel looked on at the view unconcerned. He stood, somewhat shakily and surveyed teh terrain before him, pondering where the gods had brought him now... "So, what god forsaken kingdom are we dealing with this tim?" He looked over to the black clad Arbath Ray. "By my estimations, looking at star patterns and weather, teh legendary kingdom of  Der-Bi." So, Psamtik, Ptepic and the scouts (and more importantly one camel and one queen), ride again. Numbers were somewhat affected by illnesses and other stresses (get well soon all), other events in Belgium the week before and an small event in Leeds. Six of us gathered in the almighty Boards and Swords Hobbies in Derby , where our welcome was warm and our hosts generous and kind. Our entries:  Nik: Hittite Empire RJC: Sea Peoples Phillip Powell: Sumerian Keith Spedding: Later Sargonid Assyrian Peter Bettany: Minoan My li...

Mortiem et Gloriam - Chariots of Fire Biblical competition - Round 1 vs Phillip and his Sumerians

Abarth Ray looked over his shoulder at Ptepic, as the two of them crested a hill. "You know, I am not sure this map is accurate," Ptepic looked at the scroll, "I think the cartographer has put several features in the wrong place. He's moved two whole rivers and missed a mountain and the road to the city is wrong." "So, you are saying that to Ur is to be human?" Ptraci looked at the other two, and muttered something under her breath, ahead the Sumerian army had already scoped out the Egyptians deployment. "How did they know what we were doing?" She asked. "They have had two and a half thousand years experience to be ready for us." Abarth Ray grinned again . Phillip had some pretty impressive scouting cards here. I thought I was doing well, but he was defending, and outscouted me by 80%! Out of my 12 units, that was 10. This was matched by 80% of the Sumerians, which was 15 units!!! That was bigger than my entire army! That is wall-t...

Mortiem et Gloriam - Chariots of Fire Biblical competition - Round 2 vs Richard and his Sea Peoples

The sky twisted and changed, and the three narrative voices looked round. Again, a coastal plain, by this time thickly sewn with trees. "Oh, where now!" Ptepic groaned, standing upright like a man who had just been under a scrum.. "Looks like Egypt, 19th dynasty." Ptraci interjected, straightening her dress and sharpening a sword. "Great, New Kingdom Egyptians?" Abarth Ray reached into his backpack for 'A Dummy's Guide to Fighting New Kingdom Egyptians.' "You won't need that," Ptraci laughed, "It's worse, Sea Peoples and they have set up camp in the North. We need to boot them out of the Delta before they cause too much damage." "There's a reason she is a good ruler and you abdicated," Abarth Ray laughed, signalling to his messanger and riders of the Medjai "This will be interesting, we've never fought these before." Round 2 and an interesting match up vs Richard's Sea Peoples. Not a ...

Mortiem et Gloriam - Chariots of Fire Biblical competition - Round 3 vs Peter and his Minoans

The ground swirled, and Ptepic looked puzzled. "Minoan?" he scratched his head, "not often we see them, usually it's Mycenaean. Any difference?" Abarth Ray looked up from the sudoku, while he was about to finish the second box, but he wasn't sure where the sphinx went in box three. "Not much difference, just a Theran Explosion between them". "Oh, fancy a fight then?" "Why not!" I managed to outscout Peter, by 30% and was attacking. The terrain was dense, but only on the outside! A wood and a hill protected our right, while on the left my two rocky grounds abutted a patch of open land, and some standing crops while a hill fell conveniently for Peter's camp at the back. My opponent muses his deployment as I advance. My skirmishers are happily resting in teh ruins, and will not pay any part in this battle, thank-you-very-much! Ptepid's command of spears and bows stand to on the left, while my Medjai and the chariots hold...
