Soldiers of Napoleon - 15mm - 1815 Anglo-Allied vs French

Last night's game, Dik and I settled down to a civilised game of Soldiers of Napoleon. Dik has many beautiful 15mm armies, so I matched his scale, and then had to decide whether t use my 1806 Prussians of my Anglo-Allied. After some umming-and-ahhing, I plumped for the Anglo-Allied as the second 1806 Prussian brigade still needs more infantry. We chose 1000 points, and Dik pre-randomised the terrain, A big, empty, centre sector, my left with woods, and the right with a large hill and a hedged field. My list British Infantry Brigade : 2 x 5 stand Line Infantry units 1 x 5 Light Infantry 1 x 5 Veteran Infantry 3 rifles attachments 2 gun 9lber battery with full caisons  Artillery reserve with a 9lber and a Congrave Rocket battery (we were not sure if this was a legal formation, but the rockets did not hit anything all night) with full caisons  Brunswick Brigade 1 x 5 stand Leibgaurds 2 x 5 stand reserve infantry 1 x 3 Uhlans 1 jager attachment 2 gun 9lber horse artillery batte...

Soldiers of Napoleon - 1815 Anglo-Allied vs French. Battle of The Long Hill

Phil and I met for another 15mm bash of Soldiers of Napoleon on Wednesday, with 750 points and 4 brigades each, one off table but plenty on. My forces, not the elite heavy British force but my mixed allied division: Could they do better than last weeks debacle when I lost twice with my Austrians vs Neil (no battle report for that one, sorry, it was all over in a flash)? British Infantry Brigade KSLI - 5x Line infantry, attached rifles. Saff Essex - 5 x Line infantry, attached rifles Highlanders - 5 x Vet infantry 2 stand 9lber battery with full caissons Nassau Brigade 1st Nassau - 5 x Vet light infantry 2nd Nassau 5 x light infantry 4 x Belgian militia infantry 2 stand 9lber battery with full caissons Brunswick Brigade Leib light infantry - 5 x light infantry 1st foot - 5 x militia 2nd foot - 4 x militia Brunswick Uhlans - 3 lancers 2 stand 6lber horse artillery battery Off table in reserve, due to arrive after turn 2. 15mm Soldiers of Napoleon - Anglo-Allied vs French, Battle of the Blure River

Phil asked for a game of Soldiers of Napoleon at Leighton Buzzard, who was I to refuse. It was only his second game, but his beautiful 15mm French were going to be a challenge. He asked for 750 but three brigades, a difficult build with my Anglo-Allied units, as all the allied are very cheap and means you have more than three brigades for the points, it results in three Anglos and no allied... 1st Brigade 5 x Veteran Infantry 5 x Light Infantry 2 units of 5 x Line Infantry with attached Rifles 2 x 9lbers with full Cassions 2nd Brigade 5 x Veteran Infantry 2 units of 5 x Line Infantry, 1 with attached Rifles 2 x 9lbers with full Cassions Cavalry Brigade 2 units of 4 x Hussars 4 x Light Dragoons 2 x 6lber horse Artillery Moral value total: 21 (+1 for pregame initiative) I was also guaranteed a loss as I had finally based up my troops after 12 years, and even expanded one of the units!  My Brits, with +5 on pre-battle scouting, (+1 for being British, +3 for the cavalry, +1 for the r...

Soldiers of Napoleon, The Battle of the Green River

Mark and I met up for my third game of Soldiers of Napoleon. I was using my Anglo-Allied (or just Anglo) again, with three bridgades at 700 points. One had a vet line, one light infantry, two line infantry and a battery of 9lbers. Second brigade was two line battalions and a verteran, with another 9lber battery, both with full cassions. My cavalry was two units of Hussars with an attached 6lber horse artillery battery. I also thought I would give British Rifle attachements a try, which promptly put me on +6 to initiative rolls (+1 for British, +2 for two Hussar units, +3 for 3 rifles attachments)  This would drop to +4 with losses, but Mark never beat it, it also gave me +1 reroll for my CinC and the choice of deployment. Mark was using a pure French force, with three freshly painted dragoon regiments with attached artillery, and two infantry brigades with one seasoned, one trained and two units of militia, plus a battery each. What was going to be telling was my morale value was ...
