Warband - Historical - 100 Years War - Find The Prize

Tonight's game vs Jarkko. Using his amazing 28mm 100 Years War collection. We used Warband rules, but no magic and both using 'Dragon Men' lists.
I opted for the French (trying to break out of my Anglo-centric attitudes when wargaming).
My List
Lord D6+1
3 x Men-at-arms (fierce & impetuous)
2 x crossbows
1 x archers (powerful) - Scots Archers
2 Mounted Knights (fierce, impetuous and powerful)
2 Foot Knights (resolute)

Jarkko's English
Lord D6+2
5 x Archers (powerful)
2 x Foot knights (resolute)
1 x Mounted Knights
1 x Mounted Borderers (skirmish)

Jarkko rolled 'Find The Prize', each terrain piece has a counter on it, on a roll of 6 it's some treasure or holy relic. In this case, it was St Francis's Mother's Fingernail! Jarkko chose three hills, as he was providing the terrain, I chose a village, a road and a marsh (technically illegal in this scenario, but since Jarkko had already brought them, how could I refuse)! However, two of the three hills Jarkko brought did not appear on table!!! The possible site of relics were in the middle of the village, the marsh and the central hill.

Initial deployments and moves, On my right, I faced Jarkko's knights with mine, and my archers, a crossbow unit and a unit of Men-at Arms. He stacked his foot knights behind his archers to search the objective on the hill, and then I was faced in the centre with his massive fire-line!

Jarkko's Earl of Northampton showing how committed he was to this encounter!

Jarkko's foot knights searched the village (it was empty, but the knights rather enjoyed the local hostelry and brothel), and his borderers crushed my crossbows who were searching the marsh (off camera, left) and had come up empty handed, only to be flanked and eventually destroyed by a unit of my spears hitting them in the flank and forcing them off table.

I managed to charge his mounted knights with both my spears and one of my Mounted knights, crushing them! After searching the village, his other foot knights tried to charge my mounted knights, but I caught them in the rear and crushed them! Meanwhile Jarkko had reveled that the objective was on the hill, but his bows that discovered it were broken by concentrated firepower from my crossbows and archers.

My spears went beyond the hill and turned to face Jarkko's foot knights as they turned and came off the hill to face us! His foot knights disintegrated outside the village, but my Scot's archers fled from his retaliatory massed bow-fire. I then tried a new tactic, my Duc rallied them!

The simultaneous high and low water mark of the battle, all units were committed, both armies were on the verge of breaking, what would happen? Who would hold the Holy Fingernail of Saint Francis's Mum?
Knights charged bows, bows charged knights, the sky was darkened by arrows and quills, it was all in!

And it was all out as both armies simultaneously shattered and broke! Looks like the villagers will keep hold of the relic on the hill, and the local price of scrap metal has just dropped through the floor!
Another great game, lots of rolls that were met with many gasps of disbelief. Tweaks will be needed for real historical games, but it played really well.
And I've still not won a game of Warband!!!

The random miniatures in my lead pile thread

Hi all, As the months go on, I am finding more random stuff that does not fit into any catagory is creeping it's way up to the surface of my lead mountain.  I decided a few years back, rather than just throw it back like one of Nobby's escaped socks, I would actually paint some of them   Mutant Zombie by CP Models Or just a mutant? Blizkeig Commander IV - Hasty Assault

Mark and Stephen took my British at 1750 points, with effectively the same lists as before, but with two turns of preprogrammed artillery and a turn of smoke to assault my 1100 points of Germans who were in dugouts and gunpits. I chose to defend the four hills near my baseline. I has three HMGs, three mortars, two command teams and six infantry platoons, with two PAK36s teams. PAK36s and mortars on the back hill, two infantry and an HMG on the front. Infantry and Mortars in the left hill as a flank guard British stalled, turn 1 they failed to reach the table, so it took them at least four turns to advance. Artillery had landed on the right-hand hill, and rear hill, but had failed to kill anything, even with two 8 gun batteries of 25lbers . My ambush was sprung out the thicket. British infantry advancing developed an unfortunate habit of getting hit by mortars and HMGs. The British in turn 6 cleared the central hill with armour, but needed to get at least three infantry stand...
