Mortal Gods - Find the loot.

"Spartans, the only thing worse than Spartans," moaned Polykratos, "is Atheneans!"
Leandros leaned back against the slope of the hill, while Tychon stood on teh hill top, looking over the ruins towadrds the Spartan force approaching. "Erm, guys, have youi seen these Spartans?"
Leandros lifted his head, "Typical Spartans, not wearing anything!"
"They'll all get sunburn, bet they don't care about the the Helot's health." Polykratos shrugged, turning his back on the approaching forces with disintrest.
"They're nearly all female, Polykratos!" Tychon laughed.
That snapped his head round.

David and I met up at Leighton Buzzard Wargames Club for another outing of Mortal Gods. This time, he used some different figures that he's been wanting to get on table for a while. they weren't on the normal unit bases, but as soon as a friend's 3-d printer is back up and running, they will be.
Random scatter of terrain, a wood, a big hill, the ruins and another hill. The table was split into four diagonal quarters, and we plyed the 'Lost Treasure' scenario, where ther are six on table objecties, and one goes live when a 6 is roled. Then you need to hold it until turn 5.

Scrabbling round for objectives in my box - 'Alright Landlord!"; Grumio the slave was one objective. The well, two trophons, a ruined piller, and the lion statue, became our objectives and were placed by the pair of us.

Must get my lens cleaned. My peltasts were heading to the well. My hoplites went left of the hill, off towards the second trophon. My slingers and Leandros held the right, heading towards the fallen piller. Tycho and my archers held one trophon on the hill. The Spartan hoplites, peltasts were backed up with David's heroes held the gap between the woods and the hill, the lion statue was his. His slingers were on the rocky hill, and two units of javelinmen were coming round and through the woods.

His skirmishers give Grummio a once over, and decide to move on as quickly as possible! As this was a controlled objective, David rolled an immediate 6 - the fight would be over a slave from Narvio in Britannia.

David's javelins hammered into my peltasts as they checked out the trophon. Nothing of value here. My archers reached out and shot the Spartan peltasts. Both sets of hoplites adance to each other, supported by Polykratos and Jeff the musician.

Leandros sprints over from the temple via the well towards the woods. Tycho targets peltasts too. The hoplites pile forwards to the trophon too.

Peltasts and hoplites all took hits, Polykratos moves forwards. Jeff the musician legged it backwards - so much for added bravery from his abilities!

Polykratos piled into the Spartan skirmishers, while hoplites look on. David's 2-In-C moves up.

Jeff redeemes himself by boosting morale of the foot. Peltasts lob javelins at their opposing skirmishers.

My peltasts deal a lot of damage! With no one holding the objective, my aim was to clear out the way into the woods and to deal with David's heavy hitters who were closing in, especially his 2-in-C.

Despite losing a hoplite, my experienced fighters move into the woods. Polykratos and David's 2-in-C face off (bouncing off each other, with occasional wounds).

Spartan heavies arrive, attempting to attack, but roll a 1 on their charge, and Leandros decides that he's not having any of this and launches into them, killing one and pushing them away.

David's lochagos piles forwards towards my slingers. Killing one and forcing them back towards the hill.

The heroes prepare to charge, Leandros smashes the Spartans.

He's a bit hard!

Leandros and David's 2-in-C duel, and she is eliminated. My hoplites gaurd Grummio (and wonder why he is so valuable). One of my hoplites units is a bit beaten up.

David's lochagos finished off my slingers, while Polykratos set about his peltasts. Archers and Tycho target Spartans in an effort to slow them down from the brawl.

My peltasts go into the wood to secure the British slave too.

More Spartans arrive to threaten the objective.

My hoplites head off after the wounded Spartan hoplites. One of my archers fall to David's firepower from the rocky hill.

But this was the end of turn five. A big win for my warband, but a great game and most importantly, a huge pile of laughs.

"Alright Greek blokes!" The scrawny slave looked up at he towering Lochagos.
"Now tell us what you know barbarian!" Polykratos looked down at him.
Tycho strode up, looking the Brit up and down, "What on Earth is that?"

Blizkeig Commander IV - Hasty Assault

Mark and Stephen took my British at 1750 points, with effectively the same lists as before, but with two turns of preprogrammed artillery and a turn of smoke to assault my 1100 points of Germans who were in dugouts and gunpits. I chose to defend the four hills near my baseline. I has three HMGs, three mortars, two command teams and six infantry platoons, with two PAK36s teams. PAK36s and mortars on the back hill, two infantry and an HMG on the front. Infantry and Mortars in the left hill as a flank guard British stalled, turn 1 they failed to reach the table, so it took them at least four turns to advance. Artillery had landed on the right-hand hill, and rear hill, but had failed to kill anything, even with two 8 gun batteries of 25lbers . My ambush was sprung out the thicket. British infantry advancing developed an unfortunate habit of getting hit by mortars and HMGs. The British in turn 6 cleared the central hill with armour, but needed to get at least three infantry stand...
