Last Days:Zombie Apoclypse - Street fight in New York.

CAAAAN YOU DIG IT!

1970s New York.

The Zombie Apocalypse has produced some odd results. The 20000 cops fell early, zombies are still rife, but the Gangs that previously ruined neighbourhoods quickly took control (some more successfully
than others) following the advice of Cyrus's prophecy. Guns were abandoned due to noise attracting the undead, so hand-to-hand weapons saved the day. Each region was controlled, jealously, by their gangs. Transit was allowed within certain times for gangs, free movement was gaurenteed for 'civies' the rest of the time, and gangs still fought over the boarders of their patch, now with added sport of zombie hunting. The only ranged weapon of note in these strange days is petrol bombs. These produce some noise, but burn out quickly and were found to be very efficent with dealing with zombie mobs.

The gangs

The Warriors (Mark)

The Black Aces (Ralph)

The Devil's Outcasts (Clive)
(Photo blatently stolen from the amazing Funky Skull Games, sorry Iain, I did not get change to photograph the gang before I sent Clive the brief)

Rule
If you have a character armed with a petrol bomb, it's a one use weapon. It's range is 3x strength (so generally 9") and has a radius of 3"
+/- deviation...
Ralph: Not if you drop it
Will: Not a great plan...
Ralph: Well not unless your a Buddhist monk and surrounded by enemies
Clive: Surrounded by enemies......interesting

The three gangs tonight are rumbling up Fowler Avenue, this is the territory of the 'Devil's Outcasts'. to their North, the 'Black Aces' are encrouching, while from the South 'The Warriors' are trying to leave the territory on foot after getting their timings of a conference wrong! Clive with the Devil's Outcasts was allowed to place half his gang in ambush at the start of the game.
For example, Bull going into hiding.

Can't see him now!

And in the filling station.

Will: Time to play
Clive: I can't remember the rules. But then it is a street fight....there are no rules!

Last Days has a good and simple rules sequesnce. Zombies appear & move, check whether zombies are 'sticky' (can a player esc ape combat or are they trapped), players move, players shoot (not much of that tonight), players fight (each other and/or zombies), zombies fight, check to see whether your gang runs away. Each player moves one character at a time, then next player, initiative order.

Clive: Fowler Avenue is off limits to softies and to deadies.
Ralph: Who said!
Clive: The neighbourhood Outcasts
Ralph: WHO?
Clive: No need to shout
Ralph: We'll do more than shout in a minute

The avenue

Ralph: Looks a nice area

Ralph deployed left. Mark, deployed right. Clive- as previously discussed, was in teh centre.R
Ralph: Gang deployed around swings. Your choice of order.
Mark: In and around the dug out bunker thang in the corner

Will: Initiative turn 1 was Mark, Clive, Ralph.

The Zombies moved

Clive: Where's my 4th bloke? I can only see three figures on the roundabout
Ralph: He's underneath
Clive: Ok
Ralph: He's fallen off
Clive: Drunk again!
Will: Erm... (Cue two minutes of frantic scrabbling as I find Clive's misplaced gang leader)
Will: <Media omitted>
Clive: Hurrah!
Ralph: Boo hiss
Will: <Media omitted>
Will: He had gone for supplies!
Clive: More ice cream?

Mark had made one move with his gang. Question was now did he want a second at the run, or did he want the the goodies?

Clive: But no worries it's MAYHEM

Swan runs up the alley between fence and building

Clive had Bananas moves toward the zombie fighting the dog

Ralph ordered Martinez to advance towards nearest zombie, which turned out to be sticky.

Ralph: No surprise he's sticky

Fox joined Snow

Clive had Paddy doing the same as Bananas
Ralph Baker: Banana splits

He's quicker, but his Z is sticky too!

Loba moves out from behind swings towards Marcel Marceau the Zombie

Mark's gang continued moving up the ally, ignoring the zombies behind the chainlink fence!
Will: Clivr
Will: Clive
Ralph: First version is better. Sounds like he is growling
Will: That's the zs tummies rumbling!

Beans moved off to the left and slightly back

There are two more zs to his left

Ralph: Go get the zoms

Chiquito moved in support of Loba

Cleon moved

Tremor joins Beanz

Ramos moved and searched red skip, surprise, nothing!
Will: <Media omitted>
Will: <Media omitted>

Mark's gang again.......run run run, although Snow isn't quick, but rock hard

Ralph: No snow is very soft
Will: Not if you hit it hard!
Clive: Maggot does his thing
Will: Click Click Step step
Ralph: Oh God I dread to think
Will: Phhhhoooowwwwof
Ralph: He's turned into a dog!
Maggot emerges from ambush. He will throw once everyone has moved (counts as shooting) 🔫

That looks nasty, he's holding a petrol bomb!!

Ralph Baker: Tigre moves along building wall to corner. Looking carefully in window as he goes past it.

Will: House appears empty...

Will: Mark
Will: <Media omitted>
Mark: Next.....
Will: Maggot has a petrol bomb 💣btw... Area effect etc...
Ralph: He might miss
Will: He's not actually thrown yet. Move then shoot...Meanwhile, Rembrant moves up

Carlos moved towards Tigre

Will: Ajax moved at the run

Benny moved behind Loba down the left hand side of skip
.

Mark is lining up for a bbq as Cowboy moves with the gang

Seb runs straight across road into dirt patch.

Will: Vermin moves
Ralph: Everyone is vermin to the Aces

Clive had Maggot hurl his Molotov Cocktail into the middle of those first five blokes
Mark: Didn't you're mum teach you to not throw things?

It was a 6!
Will: Bang!
Clive: Yes
Mark: No!
Clive: My mom taught me where to stab people
Ralph: Frying tonight
Will: Remind me, don't let Rach throw the dice...
<Media omitted>
Mark Kapalo: Oh FFS
Cleon, Cochise, Snow and Fox all take 2 wounds!!! Swan takes 1...
Oh, and you've toasted a zombie!!!
Mark: I guess thats not good?
Ralph: Could be worse
Will: You're pretty pissed off. You have 3 wounds each.
Ralph: Well not much worse
Ralph: Throw one back
Mark: Damn right!
Clive: Well that's the danger of holding hands as you move around like a bunch of pansies, sticking together cause you're so scared😝

Will: In other matters.
The stray dog rips off the zombies head!
Clive: Good dog
Will: Whereas you both miss each other Ralph
Clive: Is it a dangerous dog?
Will: Very
Clive: Will has a lot of vowel issues!

Will: Zs move

Ralph: My body is my tool attacks. OH NO

Ralph: Its that freshly roasted taste

Will: Initiative for this turn was Clive, Ralph than Mark

Maggot ducks back into the filling station
Mark: Coward

Clive Dean: Don't want to get charcoal marks on my jacket
Mark: Or stabbed in both eyes and left to stumble about til you get eaten....
Ralph: With a face like that it would matter if you had a dirty jacket

Loba move into support of Chiquito on his left. Neither Loba nor Chiquito are sticky.
 <Media omitted>
 <Media omitted>

Will: Guess a kicking is due...
Ralph: Be afraid be very afraid Clive
Mark: Run after the pyromaniac and twat him multiple times
Clive: They are busy holding hands Ralph
Will: Swan charges in (and as you moved last, you stab first)!
Clive: How does he catch me?

Will: Sprint is a double move, but only in a straight line.
Ralph: Is he a Swan Vesta at the moment. He's red hot
Mark: When I say sprint its a description of what he might do in real like so Amble up to the guy that threw a petrol bomb and stab him if you prefer
Ralph: Its quite good being piggy in the middle. 🐷🐷🐷
Will: Anyway, one of your characters Clive...
Clive: We'll just stand around and see what happens then

Ralph: Ramos move and search red skip

Ralph: Serf boarding frog. My favourite snack. Must be due to my French roots.

Mark: To make it easier we are all going after him mob handed

Ralph: Remember what happened last time you followed the leader Mark

Bananas moved to help Paddy and the good news is Bananas is not sticky.

Tigre move around corner of building and follow around to the right

Mark's next character moves

From Clive's gang, Scum, who has been waiting in ambush, moves to help Maggot and block the entrance to the building
Will: It's a 30' foot hole. He's not that big! He's in contact with Fox
Clive: So basically they are both dead 😀
Will: Fox is pretty knackered though
Clive: But he's got seven mates with him and it's impossible to run away
Mark: Shouldn't have thrown shit at me then!
Clive: Yes let's all stand around and have coffee and a nice chat
Will: There is a door out the back...

Will: Tbh, It has more holes in my sanity.
Clive: Yes that's where Maggot was supposed to be going but I didn't realise turning took most of his move
Will: You can break off Clive.
Clive: What will that achieve? He will just chase after me and catch me again because I have to turn away
Will: You might take a few down on the way.
Mark piles in...

Benny moved to the right of Chiquito

Clive: Can animal do his thing?
Ralph: OH GOD NOT AGAIN
Will: Oh yes
Clive: Yes again! 🙂

Clive: I think Ralph has a bunch. Yes that lot
Will: "Surprise!"
Will: Opening the door takes 2/6 of your move Clive. Do you wish to do anything else

Clive: I think that is Bull and he doesn't have the bomb?
Will: Correct oops
Ralph Baker: Load of bull!!
Will: <Media omitted>
Clive: Perhaps Bull had best charge that nearest bloke on his own
Will: Can you tell its the day before last day of term... Sorry.
Clive: Now you've revealed him😀
Will: Bull charges
Clive: It is tricky Will I completely understand 😄
Ralph: Bull in a China shop!!
Will: <Media omitted>
Will: Lumber

Carlos moved and search police car for weapons.

Ralph: Did Carlos find anything in cop car?
Will: Police car is stripped bare.

Animal climbs up for 4" and has 2" left.

Ralph's Seb charge into the flank of Bull
Will: It's like a red rag...

Mark's gang moves, following his leader..

Clive just had Tremor now and Animal's last 2" if he wants
Clive: Can animal get close enough to throw his bomb at Ralph's 3 blokes

Will: He has a range of 9"
Will: He can target Benny
Clive: Who is Benny?
Will: The right hand of the three
Clive: If he moves 2 inches can he target the three blokes?
Will: Yes. It is area effect too
Clive: Ok, do that
Ralph: It's a full toss. Could be a wide, or a no ball
Will: 2" down the bonnet of the Aston you go.
 Clive Dean: Probably
Ralph: I will send it for a TMO revue
Clive: Sliding like starsky and hutch
Ralph: With a petrol bomb that's a bit dangerous
Clive: It is the 70's after all
Ralph: Watch your flares don't get caught on the wing mirror
Will: Mental image of that!!!

Clive: Guess the boss needs to help his nearest mate

Ralph Baker: Its a googlie. He needs to lose some weight Clive
The petrol bomb gracefully arcs through the air.
Clive: He's a yobbo who loves his pies.
Will: Bald, fat, short. The exact opposite of Clive really!
Clive: Yes, but he's less violent than me
Will: Oh shite.

Clive: Oops dropped it
Ralph: He's caught his flares
It deviated
Ralph: Or flared his caught
Ralph: Bit like the rest of Clives gang
Will: You really fumbled that!
Clive: No you did
Ralph: Where does it deviate when you drop it

Clive: Will 😄
Will: It went North and long! By a long way!
Ralph: Fried frog
Will: Flash fried frog!
Ralph: It is a wide
Clive: That is mad!!
Ralph: And overthrows; 4 leg byes! Not sure I can laughing at the throw.

Will: Combats, Swan stabbed Maggot.
Mark: Die!
Will: Not quite. 2 wounds
Fox swung at Scum. His nightstick lands a blow and two wound

Will: Chiquito on the mime, but misses. Even with a bonus for friends!
Loba hits his z
Ralph: Thunk
Will: Fails to cave its head in
Ralph: Or not

Ramos misses badly, as does Seb...
Ralph Baker: Well he's only got fists, Seb is just shite.

Will: Scum hit Fox, he's down!

Maggot misses Swan, Paddy misses his z. Bananas hits, and takes its head right off! Even dog is impressed!

Bull also misses!!!
Ralph Baker: Ramos the matador!

Zs attack back and fail miserably! The Zs move, there are loads of them!

Beanz isn't grabbed. Nor is Tremor.

Initiative was Mark, Clive, Ralph!
Clive moved all his blokes who were not fighting toward Mark's gang to help their mates

Clive: Thwack! Pow!

Carlos moved to left to attack zombie

Ralph: Its a tag wrestling match

Clive: Bananas moves to join paddy

They swing towards the Warriors to take the presure off Maggot and Scum.

Tigred move to bright blue car and search it and try to hotwire it.

Ralph: 👍
It sparks and grumbles... bit more time and it might start. There's life here... maybe...
Oh.. a Shania Twayne CD!!!(Starting cars needs Intelligence of 15, which means at least two turns, you rolled/totalled 8 this go) Oh they are noisy though
Ralph: That don't Impress me much! Quick read the manual to improve intelligence

Choise moved somewhere and attacks a bloke
Ralph: Who is called "Bloke"
Will: Choise steps up

<Media omitted>
Clive: Where can Animal get to?
Ralph: Animal can get to the drums Get it?  Make up with Kiki the frog for trying to set fire to her
Will: He can get to Bull
Clive: Ok go there

Will: The only person not in combat is Mark, unless anyone wants to break off!

Ralph: Kiki get him

Will: Okay Boppers! Let's get down to it. This is heavy

Seb misses Animal
Ralph: Told you he was shite
Carlos misses Bull!
Clive: Has Mark got 9 in his gang?
Will: Not any more Clive! Yes Mark had the biggest gang. But your boys were stronger and slightly better armed...

Loba hits his z with his baseball bat, squishing it like an overripe cantaloupe

Chiquito hits his z but fails to kill
Will: Martinez misses
Ralph: They were mesmorised by a mime
As did Carlos!

Clive: Will's dice is even worse for you ralph😆
Ralph Baker: Well we killed 1
Animal slices at Seb, two wounds!
Bull swings at Ramos Will: One wound
Clive: Take that
Tremor swings his heavy chain at his Z, Misses!
Clive Dean: Ha!
Beanz hit and toppled a dead goth!

Will: Okay Clive. This is where you need to make decisions. Who hits who?
Clive: Well we will hit the ones that are already injured where possible. Apart from that it doesn't matter I don't think?

Will: Scum hits Chiose, who crumples like a twinkie packet!
Will: Maggot misses Mark's boss!

Banana lands a good one on Ajax, causing a wound.
Clive: They are earning their medals
Paddy then landed a chain on Vermin. Two wounds
Clive: Not bad!
Mark retaliated, with Cowboy swinging his pipe and missed!
Vermin slices into Paddy causing two wounds.
Ajax swangs his bat at Banana, but misses
Snow swings at Animal, and hits helped by Swan with one wound
Scum is down!

Clive: Carnage!
Cleon lands a massive hit on Maggot, and Maggot is out!!
Swan stabs him just to make sure

Ralph: Glad the Aces are no where near this blood feud]

Some of the scenes of carnage

Will: And that's time. Mark has lost 3/9, but has a clear run round the back
Clive has lost 2/8 and his patch is being crossed, but you have removed 3 zs from your area, which is always good.
Ralph has lost none, but has not got clear of either Clive or the Zs.
Mark: Ouch! Took a twatting there!!
Will: The petrol bomb hurt
Mark: It did.
Will: Interesting with no shooting changes the game.
Clive: Exciting stuff it has to be said. Having objectives is good. Gangs that big are difficult to keep track of in your head, a couple more moves and my gang would cease to exist!!

All note that are taken on board for another game another day! Great fun game to run, what will the easing of Lockdown 3 bring?

The random miniatures in my lead pile thread

Hi all, As the months go on, I am finding more random stuff that does not fit into any catagory is creeping it's way up to the surface of my lead mountain. I decided a few years back, rather than just throw it back like one of Nobby's escaped socks, I would actually paint some of them.   Nemisis the Warlock - Khaos; Deadlock; the Warlock; the Shape of Things to Come; the Lord of the Flies; Holder of the Sword Sinister; The Death Bringer One of my all-time favourite 2000AD characters (2000AD is a British sci-fi based comic for those not from the fair shores of Blighty). "Creedo!" I got hold of two of these on Evil Bay, one uncommon (yellow base rim), one rare (red base rim), so I trashed the rare one (and kept the base elsewhere). This is a simple conversion of a heroclix figure,  Excessus, Sword Sinister replaced, base ripped off and new one sculpted, undercoated figure,  completly  repainted, flying stem attached. Sometimes, you just need a seri

Hold on, I'll just check the database... Errr, guys... There's a lot of blips... Another twelve of them! I've got them on monitor... They've breached the wall... They're coming this way! We can't stop them! +++Transmition ends+++   Four more crates. Because...   A few extra bits of usefullness to run the game next week. The stuff of nightmares, a pair of facehuggers! 6mm Pony Wars commission for a friend.

Friend asked me to do his Pony Wars kit now that Baccus have taken it over. Started off with the two bags of Native mounted figures. Over 200 of them! 72 in the first three bases of 24s. Top view, had fun posing one stand at least The rules suggest bases of up to 50! I went for breakable multiples such as 24. Back view Not the crisp view I was after, but you get the idea. 40 in five lots of 8s Allowing for flexibility. Scoot 48 in fours Top view Threes, ten bases making another thirty. Moving quickly. Top down Twos, twelve of - standard size of US troopers, useful as small change for locals! From above Back view Damn, missed one! And one broke off his base, so he's Hollywood loss (insert Wilheim scream here). Top view 33 ones (two were joined together and counted in the twos. Cantabrian anyone? Spinning maelstrom of Souix! Almost a whole A4 of riders.
