10mm DAK Western Desert force

I miss my never victorious DAK from Flames of War days, so with the release of the new Pendraken Panzer IIIs I thought it was time to rebuild in 10mm.

DAK observers

Ready for action

"I spy with my little eye..."

Plenty of kit

Like the officer with the binos

Various AA guns for DAK forces

And this was the last thing the recon flight saw...

Half track for the armour, rest to be shared out

Dakkadakka for DAK

Extra hit/wound markers (will also be used for the desert Mahdist stuff)

German platoon command stands for 'other' rules sets

Busy here!

Hope Y service are listening in!

What's on the map?

Styler and Kublewagon transports

Not sure a swimming car will help here...

Rommel - if you are going to have a level 10 CiC in BKCIV, might as well have a good one!

Since I have sorted the overspill onto his hat brim...  At wits' end Silly

Good grief!

Passenger

Extra radio operator

DAK nearly to a stage where I am happy to call them done (HQ/Spotters to do, plus when Panzer IIs come out, plus...)

HMG platoons

One facing the wrong way!

I sculpted the sandbags in a moment of boredom

They're not perfect, but they work from 3 feet away!

Panzer IIIJs

EXTERMINate... oops!

What's that over there?

Panzer IVDs

PAK38 stand

Transports

BMW sidecar combinations, another classic DAK image

Should they all have anti-tank rifles or are the MG34s??

Brum brum!

Hannomags

Portze Trucks

9 stands of DAK infantry with added MG34 and Anti-tank rifles

Top view to show anti-tank rifles.

Battalion assault?

Hmm.. FOCUS!

Back view

Mortars

They're in there somewhere!

Oh, there they are!

PAK36s

Two to a base was much better, one just got lost!

Come on then Tommy!

Three more panzers completed, a J and 2 F/G/H, two older tanks in emergancy smear, The J in the proper DAK camo colours.

Quite like the back view

Top view

And a ubiquitous Opel Blitz

What's it carrying? Maybe the Arc?

Two Sd.Kfz. 222 - nothing says recon quite like it!

Must be something out there!

Brumbrum...

Pootpoot!

Starting with...

Panzer IIIF - early in the desert campaign, camo was literally mud slapped onto field grey tanks, so weathering was an issue!

Sd.Kfz. 231 8 rad - love these insane vehicles, had to buy more of these.

"What's over here!"

"Oh hellllooo!"

Comments

  1. Nice! That 8-Rad looks like an SDKFZ 234 rather than a 231 (the full length mud guards are the most visible give-away). Love the infantry and MG gunners with sand bags!

Hi all, As the months go on, I am finding more random stuff that does not fit into any catagory is creeping it's way up to the surface of my lead mountain.  I decided a few years back, rather than just throw it back like one of Nobby's escaped socks, I would actually paint some of them   A 1983 Grenadier warrior, and a 1985 McDeath Highlander, both from my brilliannt neighbour Brian in his random assortment of stuff.
