House Martell for A Game of Ice and Fire to add to my collection.

House Martell - the house I always said I would use in ASOIAF. Lighter, more skirmishy, more hit and run than the Knight's Watch. Cheaper combat units (mostly), but a lot more NCUs that work very differently. Should be fun.

Last two figures from House Martell Heroes 2 set.
Gerold Dayne and Arianne Martell

They've been on my painting table since the summer, just never been in the right mood, until now...

Just the archers to do now.

Martell Heroes, box 1

Many cloaks

Interesting poses

4/6th of Martell Heroes, box 2

Ready to go

More cloaks

Dervishes

Deadly, sometimes

Top view

Quite a bit of animation in these

Just the archers and two more heroes to go.
Two units of Martell spearmen

Unit 2 - spot the difference!

More bracing

Think my phone camera is on the way out - unless anyone can suggest a way to clean teh lens!

Prince {Doran Martell}, Prince of Dorne, and a Dervish that I picked up by mistake

Detail on back

Starfall Knights - heavy hitter, but not as heavily armoured as other knights, but still something to make your opponent worry!

Charge!

Players' view

Fast moving, heavy hitting, guard cavalry

Starfall Outriders, lighter cavalry that have flanking and healing functions

Skirmish types

Even faster, even lighter

Rear view

Extra characters and a unit for my Night's Watch

Cold Hands, big role in the books, left out the TV series

Not often you have to google "elk colours"

Eddard Stark, Craster, Gilly and Samwell Tarly

Gilly adds some much needed colours to the force!

Night's watch attachments from a friend (thanks John)- Ranger veteran, veteran captain and builder captain/character, all useful unit boosters

Night's Watch Rangers

And dog hair!

Patrol underway

Quick, look that way!

Part of my TOIL haul from Boards and Swords Hobbies , a Night's Watch starter set and a Ranger Vangard booster for A Song of Ice and Fire
Already played one game and won!

Ranger trackers - light cavalry

Inevitable top view

Mobile and shooty, not the best combat troops, but that's not what they're used for.

Ranger Vangaurds, heaier cavalry, and get to flank march, which allows you to sneak up on enemy units where they are very effective when attacking from teh side or rear

To quote Lego Batman, "I only work in black, or really, really dark grey!"

Certainly moody

Sworn brothers of the watch, a tasty and very decent combat unit

It's artifical fur

You get two units of these, one was enough to deal some major hurts on Thursday!

And even harder than the Sworn Brothers are the vetrans of the Watch

These come with a couple of cool abilities, opponents get a -1 to his and they cause a hit for every miss your opponent rolls

Ghost the Direwolf

If Ghost is the runt...

Watch heores, Jon Snow bottom left (no, not the news reader)

Measter Aemon about to fall over?

Black Powder 1870 Stats and Modifications

1870 Franco-Prussian Conflict in Black Powder Hi all, If you are reading this, it's because. like us, you are Black Powder fans and want to know how we manage the Franco-Prussian War. Anything below is by no way official, just the house rules we have developed over the last few years of playing. A few thoughts first: Fighting in the period is best described as hard fought assaults by Prussians, supported by superior artillery against superior but very strong defensive French lines. All ranges and movements are in cm scale, just to be awkward! All my forces are modelled on 3” square bases, apart from divisional commanders, skirmishers and artillery which have a frontage of 1½” and Corp commanders who are on a 2” base. Feel free to ignore that. My units are regiments of infantry,   brigades of cavalry and skirmish squadrons of cav. Artillery is either battalion as one gun, or a battery of two guns on a base, horse artillery have limbers attached. Army composition...

The random miniatures in my lead pile thread

Hi all, As the months go on, I am finding more random stuff that does not fit into any catagory is creeping it's way up to the surface of my lead mountain.  I decided a few years back, rather than just throw it back like one of Nobby's escaped socks, I would actually paint some of them   Here comes the couragous WWI fighter ace in his Sopwith Camel. Hunting The Red Baron on the Dawn Patrol. Bit bigger than 25mm scale, but he will provide top cover for my Kindred WWI stuff. Yes, you have seen the flight stand before on my epic stuff. He's going so fast, the camera can't focus! "Curse you Red Baron!"   Two more Highlanders from the 80s, thanks to Brian up the road. Armed with two bottles or a sword, who is harder? More plaid Well hard! Top view   A chaos warrior It was free, and I've given it to a mate who runs a chaos armym=, hence th elack of basing as he will do it to his own style. Big chopp...
