A BKC IV learning game for Dik.

Dik at Leighton Buzzard had asked for a game of BKC IV, in 10mm. He has an immacualtely painted and huge collection of WW2 centered around mid to late War Germams, , plus ALL the Tigger that were in Tunisia. Thankfully, he did not need those, and only put out Panzer IVs and IIIs, with a bucketload of infantry with a decent amount of support weapons. I took Antrobus and his boys of the 139th Light Heavy Borcester Infantry; this time upgraded to veterans (as we were now in 1943, not their usual 1941). The six Mk13s were retired for this game, and the new Valentines ame out for the first time. Yup, it's my desert terrain, again! I know Tunisia is meant to be greener, but it was my grab box. Turn 1: All my forces failed to arrive, and one command even blundered! Antrobus had raided the motor pool, and found many captured German trucks, but two of the truck detachments crashed into each other on the Ciaro bypass, meaning that the infantry was walking, again! Turn 2 and they and the arm...

Sabresquadron 10mm: British Territorial Army vs East Germans 1984

Nick & William came over for a game of 'Sabresquadron' at Leighton Buzzard Wargames Club. I was joined by Mort, and we were defending with my British vs Nick's new East German Panzer company.  As the defender, you get 50% less points than the attacker, which can be an issue, especialy as Brits are quite expensive with all their great kit. So, this time I put together a TA (Territorial Army) company, leaving their transports behind. Less morale, but more stuff on table. They were supported by an anti-tank platoon, brigade level mortar platoon, an AA stand, and a Lynx AH-1 attack helicopter. 600 points (or just under). My figures are Pendraken apart from the Lynx which is The Dorset Print Man The Germans brought a company of T-55Ms , a platoon of infantry in BMPs, artillery, a Shilka AA tank and not much else for 1200 points! But they were higher morale than the British Territorials. Nick figures are Plastic Soldier 3d prints. Initial British deployment. Lining a wood edg...

Battle of The Mere of Rushes - Burrows and Badgers rescue mission

Dach the badger looked round as his vision unblurred. The chapel infirmary was whitewashed and the large, high-level glazed windows allowed warm light to pour in. A small stove glowed in one corner, while every surface was covered in gifts, flowers and some obviously hand-made 'Get Well Soon' cards. He lay on a pallet bed, in crisps, clean linen sheets, and his equipment was stacked next to him. His arm ached, and was securely strapped to his side. He could just make out deep scars on it under the light bandages "Oh, look who is awake!" Purred a familiar voice, he looked over to one of the other beds to see his fellow warrior Bowie, preening himself with a mirror. "You took quite a knock, my friend " "Bowie, you weren't even that badly hurt, why are you still in bed!" Dach turned his head to see Lady Door, sitting up in an overlarge wing backed chair, a scroll on her lap. The chair was his sized, so on a Dormouse it almost swallowed her. No w...

Halfling rogue and mage for Roleplaying at my local club.

Recently, we started a roleplaying campaign at Leighton Buzzard Wargames Club, and out of my four zero level characters (a dwarf, a wizards apprentice, an ostler and a halfling), I got the halfling and the apprentice through the first adventure in Dungeon Crawl Classics , so I get to use them next and I painted the halfling first. My mage character, dug long and hard to find this one in the pile, and then I found this in the selection Brian gifted me. Looking at her, I would hazard she is an 1980s cast of of a Prince August female mage (hence the bubble in one arm). She's come up rather well. Not sure how many adventures she will survive, but she'll look good doing it. Zap! I should have filled that hole, but actually its okay. 'It' became 'her' when I looked at the delightful Oathsworn ' Sensible Shoes ' range and found a cool halfling rogue , not too chubby, looks like she means buisiness. What to name here? ...
