The weather was glorious, lockdown genty easing, Roger was in country, Adrain had time off and Paul needed a break from real life, so we gathered at mine on Saturday for some games of Mortiem et Gloriam. Then on Sunday, while Roger headed off to his new life as a diplomatic service husband, I catered for the guys and played with my youngest while umpiring in the morning, Rob came over to play Adrian at MeG, and in the afternoon, Mort struggled the quarter mile up our road for two games of Burrows and Badgers.  A pretty cool way to spend the weekend. Worst thing was the sunburn on the back of my neck!   Game one and two My Hausa Kingdoms with Tuereg allies vs Adrian's Hafsids. Scouting, despite having 5 sugs of light horse and 5 sugs of javelinmen, Adrian had 5 scouting cards, three of which were black or white! A rather chilly afternoon in Leighton Buzzard, Paul came round for another MeG game. He was testing out a new version of his favourite list, Archmedioian Persian, while I was giving my Hausa another run out (after a year in the box) trying to get the balance right. Knowing Paul and his penchant for this list, it was always going to be a hard ask to beat. I could have taken Romans and walked through his centre, or Sassanids and hit hard with catafracts, but using the Hausa this was much more colourful and, to be honest, even more fun! Yay, out scouted Paul for the second game on the trot! Huzzah ! Deployment (as Paul deals) my allies are reliable, phew! On the left is rocky ground, I had a hill, and scrub on the left, which my camels were positioned behind, ready to ignore it as they moved through. Inside them was my main cavalry body, superior guards and normal cavalry. The hill was occupied by my five units of foot and on the far left two light horse stare down Paul's saka sub...

Two more real, face to face games! Life just gets beter and better! Mort came round after Paul had gone (and I had cleaned the table and chairs then planted a tree, long story), for a couple of games of Burrows and Badgers . Why? The Leighton Buzzard Club bought in during lockdown and most of all, because it's cool! He was using his Big Yin and Rogues, I had my Free Beasts of the Well of Ashes. This is Big Ouseux the Sparrow, Batty the Bat, L'Otter Napaspeur (my leader and mage), Bowie the cat (her second), and Snappy, my squirrel ranger  plus Squeaker the Mouse ranger. Squeaker the mouse ranger. Being Freebeasts, we got to roll three times on the rare item chart. Bowie picked up a master crafted sword (+1 to strike rolls, tasty), another spell for L’Otter, meaning she now knows 4! She picked luck. Batty picked up a bottle of mortal poison, muhahahahahah!
