Wooden Spoons for MeG at Campaign 2024

It's that time of year again! Three themes this year in the MeG team events are Britannia - 55BCE to 900CE, 'Don't Tell Them Your Name Pike' (any army with two or more TuGs/units of Pikes), and Open 28mm (which has turned into Italian Wars) Britannia Conculcabitor Don't Tell Them Your Name, Pike! Open 28mm 'Das Wud Teuer!'

Zoontalis - my daughter painted her Axolotls, I painted my foxes.

Easter holidaqy activity, Rach painted her Axolotls I sculpted the bases for her (she wanted a water theme), applied inks before she highlighted and did the details on the eyes, the rest is entirely her work. Look, salmon rose! They are very much her favourite (this week) and gave my Platupuses a kicking on Thursday! Meanwhile, I finished my guild of foxes Feisty These just ooze sneakiness  Recently, my friend David introduced myself and my daughter to Zoontalis. It's a fast play, four creature aside combat game. The rules are great, but the sculpts they produce are even better. Rach has finished her next guild - Pandamonium! All I did was add basing and tidy up after her. Her choice of colours ties in nicely These are going to be hard! They go really well     My next two Guilds. Perilous Platupuses and Raging Rabbits The rabbits Boing! EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT - Wooden Spoon for Rollcall this weekend.

Due to the organiser being ill, an emergancy soon was needed for this weekend. The 28mm MeG pool is open themed, but nearly all the armies were Roman or Italian Wars in our pool, the spoon idea popped into my headbased on a comment by a friend:- "I see three of us didn't get the Italian Wars memo!" It only took an hour and a half tonight, but I actually prefer this one!    And now a wooden spoon for Rollcall this weekend!  It's an Easter weekend competition, so here's Bugs... (With apologese to Tex Avery)

Rebased 28mm Gripping Beast Republican Romans with a few Warlord Games Characters added in for Rollcall this weekend.

Gareth also gifted me some Gallic light horse, which were utterly beautiful, but were not based. So, in preparation for getting thumped next weekend, I based them up.  MeG get's its first run out as a 28mm competition this weekend. Yes, it is slightly out of my present scale for me, and means dusting off some old friends. Bought for me in 1999 by the amazing Mrs Lemmey from Gripping Beast, my Marian/Spartican Roman army for Warhammer Ancient Battles has been revamped and rebased. A few extra figures added, a few repairs here and there, and they are good for another 24 years! Caesar's legio X Army elite My view Legio IX Hispania, with their Eagle, and two new figures with Warlord's Volonius and Pullo from 'Rome' in the front rank (two of the new figures in the army) "Titus Pullo, get back in line you drunkard!" They are veterans, honest! Two average (and allied) legio You can tell they are average...
