Mortiem et Gloriam: Senguko Samurai vs Delhi Sultanate

Another Wednesday night MeG matchup. My Senguko Samurai vs Dik's BEAUTIFUL Delhi Sultanate. Dik won both the scouting and terrain rolls, and chose to site his game in a jungle in an effort to disturb my Samurai. We both had not looked at each other's lists so as to make it fair, but my list was unchanged while Dik had a multitude of other options. It also did not help that all the negative terrain of note ended up in the middle of Dik's side of the world, including a large jungle, a wood and at one point a swamp (thankfully he removed that one), while I gained a large village, standing crops (under my dice box) and a gentle hill on my side and one in the middle. I was 50% outscouted, so five of the nine were on table, allowing Dik to plot to out manouver me. However, the terrain funnel was not in his favour here. On my right rests my allied command, Fluffy holds the centre with his four units, and the average bows sit proud in the village, while my cavalry hides from th...

Wooden Spoons for ArMeGeddon

Wow, nearly two years since I last painted a wooden spoon of any kind. The traditional 'prize' for last place in a sporting event, and something of a collectors item (I've won back three over the years)! These two are for ArMeGeddon, which due to the present nature of British Covid restrictions had to be split over two sites, firstly Battlefield Hobbies are hosting the Midlands section in Daventry. Then the 'SSL' or Souther Super League is based somewhere on the South Coast that will remain secret for security reasons (Hi Ray)! With a big split, we needed two spoons. What was the most famous split?  This one! (What, you were expecting Taylor & Burton?)

Wednesday night games: MeG Dacians vs Early Post Romano-British & Legion Rebels vs Imperials

Wednesday night, while the rest of Blighty watched Footy, several of us gathered at Leighton Buzzzard Wargamers for a game. David had been challenged my daughter Imi to a game of Legion, and his Imperials faced off against Jen Urso and co. I only own a few bits of 28mm terrain that is suitable, but they got something on table. Yes, that is an AT-ST, Imperial Guard and Vader coming down the middle at Imi's troopers, Imi was worried, hence hiding in as much terrain as she could find! It became quickly apparent that Imi had the upper hand early here, she reduced David's squads to tatters! Here she is showing him how to play... Mark and I set up next door, a solid line of Romano-British backed up by cavalry facing Simon's Dacians that I am painting up for him and using using weekend (their bases are finished now, honest!). Initial moves are simple enough (but what do you expect with tribal, anything off a straight line is a yellow and REALLY expensive). Tactics, what tactics! ...

10mm Saitic Egyptian vs 15mm Mitanni, Biblical Mortiem et Gloriam

Wednesday night, as the local G-class star set slowly below the horizon, Neil and I met at the newly reopened Leighton Buzzard Wargames Club to play Mortiem et Gloriam with our Biblical armies. I was using my Saitic Egyptian, an all arms/heavy infantry list vs Neil who had brought along the 'Indusrty Standard' (ie lethal) Mitanni (36 skilled chariots, 6 skilled foot archers, some bow and spears, some spear with bows, same as Cid and I both ran at Warfare 2019 , you know, back before the plague). My list: Strategic intercept on the terrain chart really helped, as I could choose from Standard or Coastal, or I could stick with my Standard or Coastal... oh. Scouting, these were the cards Neil used after he equalled my 20%! So 7 units went down as 50% of 13. Glory shot of my ruins acting as rocky ground, coz it looks cool! And my ever growing town lurks behind, the battle would be fought on the plains between. Mitanni forces start to deploy. As the sun glints off the needles outsi...
