A learning game of Soldiers of Napoleon for Dave: Austrians vs Guard in 10mm

Dave and I mett up at Leighton  Buzzard Wargames club for a game of Soldiers of Napoleon. Mark was meant to join us, but he had a cold. So we ended upp with my Austrians   being used by Dave, while I used my Guard. all in glorious 10mm Pendraken

Most of the action happened off camera, so it's a shorty. Deployment was a centre forwards. My two infantry divisions were on the left and right, with a plan to clear out Dave's right hand infantry brigade, while the Guard cavalry on my left was designated to delay Dave's cavalry in the centre and maybe the infantry swinging in fron the left.

Two unit of hussars and two cheveuax legure face down the Guard Dragoons and Grenadiers a Chevel. Quite the challenge.   Especially as his artillery was backing up his cavalry

Hussars do what Hussars do, and charge the Guard Dragoons. The result was not pleasant for the hussarss.

As Dave's infantry swung in from the left, that unit of infantry out front was a challenging. The Dragoons then beat up a Cheveux too, and two other cavalry either refused to charge after being passed through by fleeing Austrian units. Dave was now finding out how useful rally cards are.My Old Guard decided to form square, just in case the Austrian cavalry did something silly.

The Austrian infantry  that was advancing on it's own would get ridden down by the Grenadiers a Chevel. The Hussars would try to charge again, but get beaten back buy the dragoons.

On the right, my two brigades of Guard were encroaching on Dave's line, he shook one Young Guard unit, but by the time we ended the game, I was on 5vp, he was on 18vp, and about to lose a lot more. Guard cavalry again does the damage. Great game, and we will definitely replay.

Once I've rebased the Austrians so they match my Guard and Prussians, they're on new bases already, just got to add texture.

Blizkeig Commander IV - Hasty Assault

Mark and Stephen took my British at 1750 points, with effectively the same lists as before, but with two turns of preprogrammed artillery and a turn of smoke to assault my 1100 points of Germans who were in dugouts and gunpits. I chose to defend the four hills near my baseline. I has three HMGs, three mortars, two command teams and six infantry platoons, with two PAK36s teams. PAK36s and mortars on the back hill, two infantry and an HMG on the front. Infantry and Mortars in the left hill as a flank guard British stalled, turn 1 they failed to reach the table, so it took them at least four turns to advance. Artillery had landed on the right-hand hill, and rear hill, but had failed to kill anything, even with two 8 gun batteries of 25lbers . My ambush was sprung out the thicket. British infantry advancing developed an unfortunate habit of getting hit by mortars and HMGs. The British in turn 6 cleared the central hill with armour, but needed to get at least three infantry stand...
