Blitskreig Commander IV: Somewhere in the Balkens, 1940.

Mark and I met up for a game of BKCIV, and to allow Mark to use his Early War BEF forces  We went for an Encounter game.   I put out myEarly  War German armour (minus three Pz38(t) that I left at home), supplimented by some of my DAK to llow a decent amount of points, and drew a rough line halfway, which landed us with a 'What if' game somewhere in The Balkans in 1940. So, ignore the later Panzer IIIS in desert cammo, they are really earlier ones, honest, and the obvious DAK infantry and trucks, just imagine they had been issued tropical kit early,  maybe!  Straight away, the difference in command levels shows. The British are mostly 7s with a CO of 8, the Germans are 10s and 9s. That is a huge difference. I won the initiative, and gave Mark the first turn, and all of his units failed to appear! Much hilarity and a little swearing happened instead.  My CinC ooccupies the crops over the halfway line, the infantry commamd moves through the left hand cen...

28mm Queen's Envoy Mounted set and Kerr Clan from Border Wars

WOW! These have been sitting in the pile of shame for an age. I was looking for the hounds for another project, and it seemed like a waste not to do all the figures that went with them. Lords know how long ago Iain at Flags of War actuallty ran the Kickstarter for these, but here they are! More Border Wars kit The Kerrs, a local Priest, and Hound Master. Approximation of the Kerr tartan (yes, I know it wasn't formalised in this period, but it was a bit of fun). Ready for action Off to fight, cause trouble, and generally be a nusance! The Hound Master also comes with a mounted version. Giving him a long range charge ability Why the disparity in basing styles? Because the hounds will get used for another rules set more often I suspect! FETCH! (I hae gone back and patched the hat!) And on the opposition, The Queen's enoy and collegues now have mounts. To counter the local priest, they have persusaded 'The Baby Eating Bishop of Baths & ...

Mortal Gods Mythic: Heroes vs Zeus vs Hades - Battle of the Temple of the Draco

"Another time I was fighting alongside Jason," Tychon took a draught from his wine cup, "a different temple of Zeus, but the servents of Hades were of the same temple..." Polykratos groaned, Leandros looked around, as if trying to find something else to do. "Guys, seriously, these are true stories." The archer complained. "But how?" Leandros groaned, "we are well beyond the golden age of heroes. it must have be hundreds of years ago?" "Oh, but this story explains why?" the archer laughed. Dave, David and I met up for another Mortal Gods Mythic game. David was trying out the forces of Zeus, fielding a different force to Mark's (hlMark was meant to play, but he had a doctor's note this week). He was using Centaurs, a mixture of Saytrs, both shooty and fighty, a minotaur and Dionysius, a Satyr general, along with the oh-so-lethal priest. The back of my forces. Unchanged from the last game(s): Three hoplite stands, t'...
