Xenos Rampant: Commanche and unlikely allies vs Weird War 2 Werewolf Germans

WARNING, THOSE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION, LOOK AWAY NOW, THIS BATTLE REPORT MAY CONTAIN UNBASED MODELS!  Last Wednesday, Mark and I got together for a game or two of Xenos Rampant, we both decided to pick forces BEFORE choosing our scenarios, as it makes for some interesting games (in the rules, you are allowed to alter your forces to suirt the scenario, which is a thoroughly civilised thing to do if you ask me). Mark chose to use his Weird War 2 Germans, (3 Greater Xenomorphs, 2 squads of elite infantry - all with no upgrades. I used my Commanche /Skraelings (based on Prey) with a few viking allies! HQ Naru - Primative infantry, armour, combat medic 3 x 15 figure Primative infantry mobs with primative shooting. 1 x Vikings 10 Berserker infantry, heavy armour, boarding shields, unarmed. Scenario 1: Convoy Escort We rolled a random scenario and got Convoy Escort!!! Neither force was geared up for that, so we rolled a dice, and I was escorting the trucks (it would have made sense if...

Xenos Rampant - Undead vs Space Orcs

After a flurry of 'What shall we play', Martyn and I plumped for Xenos Rampant. I hadn't played for a year, he for two, but always an utterly enjoyable game. We rolled Mission Juliet - Supply run. Six caches of goodies lay around the table, mission, collect the goodies, or kill your opponent. We deployed across a blighted cityscape. My main stress was what list to use? It had been so long since I had dived into the box that I had forgotten which forces I owned. I had an undead list written, so I went with that. (Although there was a lot I could have used, hmmm, native infantry) My list Nemesis - Greater Xenomorph, razor sharp blades, cunning, xenomorph shooting, armour piercing (11AP) 3 x Zombie hordes with undead, mob, contagious (3AP each) - Yes, one is a mob of penguins, the local necromancer got bored! 1 x mages conclave Heavy infantry, large unit, unreliable, alpha level psychic (4AP) (Helping hand) Martyn's beautiful orcs Berserker infantry (very heavy armou...

28mm Bad Squiddo Shieldmaidens.

Over the years I have toyed with the idea of Saga, I even bought v1 and had a few games, but never built up a decent force. So now I have decided it might be time to get back in. Bad Squiddo do lovely shield maidens, and a couple of years ago I bought some, maybe to play Ragnarock (that never took off). Warlord and Hearth Guard, maybe? Full of character, and hatred If not, I'm sure they will get used for something random like Berserker Infantry in Xenos Rampant (Batley Women's Guild spring to mind). The wolfhound is an added bonus to a pretty decent team

Kindred, WW1 Weird War - replacing a lost force for Xenos Rampant.

Many years ago, I owned the original Kindred prototypes, but at somepoint I lost/traded/forgot. The only thing I could find was their tank, well, that's getting used! Recently, you may have seen my Sci-Fi crew, and looking through the catalogue of CP Models I found they were holding the Kindred. An order later and my Kindred are back! Love them.   Sixteen figures, two anti-tank rocketeers with panzerschrecks, three Lewis gunners, an officer and ten soldiers, enough for three undersized squads, will upgrade squad size soon. Top view, 15mm bases, figures are close on 20mm. Yes, I kept the bases muddy and added wire, to go for the WW1 aesthetic. Bare footed, but with putties... Packs packed and ready, most likey for Xenos Ramapant soon. Even the officer has a Lee Enfield. Might see how they do vs the club soon. Light or elite infantry? Something they did not have before was a HMG, that's now sorted. How many rounds a minute! Support weapons are cool. Dakkadakkadakka Th...

Xenos Rampant: Xenomorphs vs Battle Droids in Fighting Withdrawl

Stephen and I got together at the Leighton Buzzard club for a game of Xenos Rampant. He was using Star Wars Legion Battle Droids, I was using Aliens from Another Glorious Day In The Corps. You've got to live these rules, if only for that!  I had one large swarm and two small swarms of lesser Xenomorphs, all infiltrators, all cunning (boosted defense), all slow and hive mind. I also had the Queen, Greater Xenomorph, razor sharp claws, cunning and infiltrate too. She rolled a 1 on the Aggressive commander roll, and got 'no attacks, unless wild charge' rule! Stephen had two 10 droid squads of lights (B1s), a squad of B2 Super Battle Droids (heavy infantry), General Grevous (Elite) and a Droid battle tank (tank, surprisingly). All 'mechanoid', so no morale until under half strength, when a double on an activation roll = shutdown mode engaged. We put out 4' of terrain, and before you could say "ROGER ROGER" rolled 'Fighting Withdrawal'. Technically...
