"Another time I was fighting alongside Jason," Tychon took a draught from his wine cup, "a different temple of Zeus, but the servents of Hades were of the same temple..."
Polykratos groaned, Leandros looked around, as if trying to find something else to do.
"Guys, seriously, these are true stories." The archer complained.
"But how?" Leandros groaned, "we are well beyond the golden age of heroes. it must have be hundreds of years ago?"
"Oh, but this story explains why?" the archer laughed.
Dave, David and I met up for another Mortal Gods Mythic game. David was trying out the forces of Zeus, fielding a different force to Mark's (hlMark was meant to play, but he had a doctor's note this week). He was using Centaurs, a mixture of Saytrs, both shooty and fighty, a minotaur and Dionysius, a Satyr general, along with the oh-so-lethal priest.

The back of my forces. Unchanged from the last game(s): Three hoplite stands, t'Argonauts, Typhon and Atalanta, archers, and of course, Jason.

Dave's forces of Hades. He dropped off the Hydra (resting him between fixtures?), he took two heroes, his priest, held two units of skellies in Hades, two 7nitsp of archer skellies, two units of zealots on each flank the three uniits of temple guard that could form phalanx, and an awful lot of shambling horses of skellies warriors! You can also see the three objectives we were all after at the end of the game. They were two trophons, and a well, all surrounding the monumental statue to The Draco Chararotita.

Jason formed up the Phalanx. It would take a turn to move, but it would be worth it for the active defence. The issue would be centaurs, or even a minotaur, going round their weaker flank, or unprotected rear. Atalanta, Typhon and the archers took to the temple walls, where they could snipe at David's Zeus forces if needed. Dave had dropped a unit of skellies from Hades straight on one of the objectives. Such as useful skill to have. One of David's centaurs gets marooned at the back whikebthebother two sprint forwards!

David's priest launches a lightning bolt at Atalanta, who is nearly taken out in one hit! Lawks that thing is painful.
The archers DID not like that! Tychon and tyebarchers all shoot and the priest of Zeus is potentially removed from the game!

The Priest passed his courage test to come back, but the wound card was DEATH. With the Priest's dieing breath, he cursed Tychon for all time. However, other gods were also listening...

Atalanta moved across to the crops to try and snipe skeletons and zealots, butbwithoutnher usual luck, after Jason healed her with the golden Fleece, but the wounds had obviously upset her, and her aim was off for the rest of the game. The phalanx and Jason advances. The Argonauts leading the way. On the far hill, one of David's centaurs has blown straight through a unit of skellie archers and crested the hill taking on a second unit. The Priest of Hades scrambles to take him down. David also brings his oh-so-dangerous minotaur up to threaten the phalanx's flank, while saytr archers take the high ground beyond the Draco (who is holding an omen card for all of us to see). In the far distance, David's two centaurs had both broken into the Hades's backfield and one is mobbed and brought down by skeletons, the other shot by lone undead artchers, survivors the archer units.

Tychon, threatened by the Minotaur, shows what he can do. Four dice, seven hits! The minotaur had already activated, so could not save many. The threat was pin-cushioned clinical accuracy, left on one wound, but did not kill.

David's general just peeks out from behind the pillar. There was the final centaur here, but Jason had charged it and flattened it. The Argonauts hold another objective just on camera bottom right.

David's minotaur, enraged, is engaged by Dave's skellies. However, Dave has an issue for his temple guards, as he has so many individual remainders of unts that they cannot get through to fight. He also cannot respawn units, as they have to be wiped out first (he can't make units out of the remainders or scraps).

A reminder that no one is truely immortal (even if they are demi-gods carrying an 'immortal' card which grants an extra wound), Jason is taken down by one volley of shots from David's Satyr archers on the hill. Hubris for mighty heroes
David's Satyr general Dionysus and Minotaurs are cut down and his force breaks. My phalanx is in range of the well objective, t'Argonauts hold the secons, while Dave's skellies hold the third. Jason and the Argonauts are given the win by the Priest of Hades.

Another great game, which was an absolutly hilarious.
"So, you see, because I killed a priest of Zeus. I was cursed by him, but the other gods have stepped in to protect me for my services! Hence, so far, I have not died." Tychon toasted the others.
"Well, that's jinxed him!" Leondras laughed at Polykratos.
