Burrows and Badgers by Oathsworn Miniatures - 28mm anthropmorphic animals

A new gang of warriors, a badger and shrew landscherneckt, a European Long Eared Owl, a mouse and mole warrior, plus  a newt knight.

As well as two pieces of objective that came with the Kickstarter campaign.

These arrived in late summer, but time gets away from you

Sculpts full of character

It was almost like they painted themselves

They look like they mean buisness

Witch hunter hedgehog (Frau. Fillipa Darkspines) and Shrew Shamen (Ezza Goode)

Run little Shrew!

One hunts witches, one hunts witchhunters...

Not an interesting view I guess

Two more for my collection - an otter pirate and a mouse knight vigilant (witch hunter type).

Slinger and two handed axe.

Back view

Soon be in action.

"In 1072, a crack Kommando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These animals promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Northymbrian countryside. Today, still wanted by the Royalists, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire
The Aachen Team!"
Dededumdededum...

The new figures, from left, Henlor Kremmel, Rat Necronmancer who was being tracked and secured by the Aa tem, when the money ran out. In front of him is 'Face' the Ferret, unit sniper, in the middle, with his ring of striking is BA Barotterous, to his right is Moling Mad Murdoch, and in front is Amiee Amanda, Shrew reporter.
The front figure is an older, but unused, mouse who by dint of seniority, has become the leader Johann 'Hannibal' Schmidt.

The new gang members.

Escorting the mage, their arms ready.

Nearly all armed to the teeth and heavily armoured.

Heavy hitters bright clothes, heavy armour, dark tunnels and dark mages.

After two games last week, the gang picked up a shrewzerker from a slave trader, and the shrew was handed down a double-handed axe, as the boss Johann 'Hannibal' Schmidt picked up a mastercrafted greatsword.

Their next encounter saw them successfully recover a paychest, inside was enough cash with a +3 bow. This has secured the services of a dormouse archer who is now armed with a magic bow!

Latest terrain piece, a windmill.
It's a big old multipieced, multi-floored kit, which is bigger than my light box, so I grabbed the first dark cloth out the airing cupboard. Well, not quite dark!

Starry-starry night!

A lot of fun building it.

A few flowers round the back.

Adding to two different warbands, plus a spare figure and some scenary
On the left, joining The Denizens of the Well of Ashes, replacing the late Berry Town the Shrew, is former Witch Hunter captain, Benadict Otterbranch. On the right, adding to my all stoat/weasel warband, is Ginny The Weasel, a quick conversion of the Oathsworn stoat shinty player, replacing the shinty stick with an axe, and adding heavy armour and pauldrons.

One watches while the other swings!

Two rather decent fellows, in their own way

Just hard hitters both

I normally spend a long time researching the correct colours for these animals, but, this one is...
Teal... Teal and Orange... Teal and Orange and Brown! A platypus! Perry The Platypus!

Armed with this weird stick that keeps returning to him! He does make an excellent secret agent!

He's a bounty hunter and the cloak is of many furs that did not want to come quietly (don't ask which species).

My windmill

Too big for my lightbox

Just needs Windy...

'Straight outta Trumpton!'

Scenary made from the door pushout of the windmill, a tombstone

Back of the tombstone

For no other reason than I liked the figure, a dormouse ranger.

She's just so full of character

Love the detail of her standing one paw on a rock, and her tail curling around it!

Loading...

Rach wanted long range firepower in her warband, so she opted for a squirrel archer.
Yes, this is the second one I've painted.

Such a fun pose

Sniper!

Twang!

A couple of new terrain pieces and figures
Stoat fanatic

Tried to keep this one simple

Even got the patina on this one

A non-combatant and a new dwelling, more on the other character later...

Signpost points to various locations in our campaigns

The burrow

A badger for my daughter's warband.
This thing is HUGE!
Lovely details on it too.
Hard as nails and strong as whisky
Prickly Jane's cottage
Side view
Back view, it won a prize at local club painting competition.
Smokestack lightning!

True scale, hare vs Badger, shows how big the badger is.
A few more beasties.

Clarice the Starling (rogue)

She wore a raspberry beret..

Feathers were fun.

FOCUS!

Baron Blueback, this will be part of my youngest's Xmas present

She's desperate for a game, but wants a frog in her band.

A wealthy dignitary

Mouse landschernekt

That's quite a sword!

Nice details

CHARGE!

Spiny mcTavish and Paws mcTerry for my Wildbeast warband

Spines are hard!

She's one big, tough, wildcat

Faces have come out well

Highclare Hall

Clarice is scoping it out!

That end looks good

Three more animals for various warbands and some more serious terrain.

Shrew berserker

Charge

Ron the Weasel, for my stoat warband

Retired member of the King's Watch

Now freelancing

Squeaky McTavish of the Clan MacTavish, Highland Mouse

Foul tempered fellow

Cop for!

Dunstalkin' Hall

South end

Des res?

Majestic outlook

With Ron for scale

My youngest wanted an owl for her birthday.
Well, that was cool, and she wanted a snowy owl. It's actually a barn owl, but you can get away with it.

I did paint the wing tips and feather tips, but they've not shown up brilliantly.

Back view

Spooky

Top view

Three more characters
A roadmouse, a kingfisher (inspired by being buzzed on my walks with the dog along the local canal) and a green lizard, just because I like the figure.

Face on

The kingfisher is narrow!

My youngest has been nagging me for a dog soldier (not the film, she's only 9) and with a tiny amount of conversion, here is her Xmas pressie, a female collie by Oathsworn which I have added extra fur to match our new rescue dog Honey (kind of apt, she is a kind of psycho dog)!

Now she wants a game!

Just for scale she's on a 50mm wide base!
Three new characters for Burrows and Badgers

After the battle with the slave trader, one of the freed mice turned out to be a rather zealot witch hunter (L'Otter and Bowie laughed at this, a lot). Darkness hunting was definitley on the cards while Flint Browncoat was with them.

His blessed spear is primed, ready to smite the unholy (or anyone else who gets in the way).

What he doesn't realise is that Bowie has conned him into thinnking it is holy spear for a few pennies.

Not in the Freebeasts of the Well of Ashes, but also in the area is a Mousetagnan, Mouseketeer, a servant of a different king, searching for missing jewels belonging to his Queen. He does not speak the language well, but he fights like a master.

He fears nothing except his allowence being stopped and running out of wine.

Often heard charging into the fight with the phrase "Paw Leroy". No one knows who Leroy is, but they assume he is important.

He is accompanied by a mysterious, pale fox he calls Alk. Maybe it is from Alalb Albulisiu, or 'Bloodhound' in his native tongue, from the Northern shores of Afrika.

An expert fighter and sometime healer, wise in letters and herbology.

He speaks rarely, only to moan about the cold.

Starngly, he eschews beer, mead and wine, even warming spirits, but can track anyone, anywhere!

Joining my Freebeasts of The Well of Ashes, Abbey Berry the Shrew, the young cousin of Berry Town the Shrew who followed him back to join the excitement, and the latest freed save, the Lady Door, a mouse with sharp aim with her sling.

Lady Door is out for vengence on those who sold her into slavery, Abi is just out to make her name!

A formidible pair, who hae already struck up a firm friendship.

Joining my other gangs, in my big beasts along with Kite and Shrew lancer, are:
Lord Corvus D'Raven, a dark Necromancer (and stands about 10cm tall)

He watches over all, waiting for new bodies to experiment on.

From the frozen North, Mac The WIldcat

Heavy armour and dual armed, he's waiting to take on anyone.

Love the pose

I did blow the flock off after this shot!

Sir David of Maklot who will join my Royalist gang, a gift from a friend.

A mouse veteran of many wars

Armed to the teeth too

Who is this young character skipping through the woods?

She can't mean any harm?

Three pieces of terrain for B&B.
Market building

Well

A small dwelling

The Leighton Buzzard crew have all got into this, so I thought I would jump on the band wagon for when/if games get going again!

In our last adventure, my gang picked up a new member, a small character liberated from a slave trader.

Introducing Berry Town , the Shrew. Armed to the teeth and very very annoyed with his previous treatment!

I also picked up a great figure, a Shrew knight errant mounted on a stag beetle!

These are on 32mm bases, which shows how small they are.

Again, they paint up beautifully.

Love the skull and crossbones on the shield

Love the crests on their helms, very Rocketter!

A new gang, stoats.

I bought two Shinty stars, one is as it came, but Smalls is sporting the best strip ever, and heavily converted one to a fully armoured Stoat, my gang leader, Sir Dereck, whio has been cruelly thrown out of his home by Royalists while crusading.

Smalls, a Shinty Star, bonus points for guess the team, the year and the strip!

A blurry close up of the conversion work, armour, cloak and belt added, stick swapped for Alternative Armies axe.

The Stoat-Bert brothers. (Neddy, Teddy and Eddy)

Tilda the Ferret rogue, a worthy gang member.

Extra royalists, Maurice the Town Guard, Morise Minor, the Smith and Martyn the Scribe (magic user) to finish the gang.

Illumination on the scroll

Wally, a mercanary Red Kite, complete free agent, named after the Kite that nests near my school.

A mouse-o-leum!

Extra denizens of the Well of Ashes.
The last of my offical starting gang, Sneaker, the mouse ranger

A few others that I either had to buy because they live her, or because I liked the figures!

Sir 'Lucky' Fluffington, a rather tooled up rabbit knight, formally in Royal service.

He's based on my daughter's rabbit

Striker the Sparrowhawk

Quite how he manages to fly carrying all that, no one knows!

Helena, the mouse shield-maiden

The Free Beasts of The Well of Ashes:

Led by L'otter Napaspeur, female Otter mage, who has a grudge against Royalists.

Her second is Bowie, a cat Dualist who does not know how to step away from fight (based on my cat).

Assisting them is Snappy, a squirrel ranger with little sense of self-preservation.

Besides them is Big Ouseux the Sparrow, no one is sure whether the accent is real, but he claims to have arrived from the Pictlands and is definitely of Northern descent.

Lurking behind them all is a rather shy bat known as Batty. Master of poisons and sneak attacks.

The band is small, but has access to many unusual items.

Soldiers of Napoleon - French Imperial Guard vs Austrians - bad day to be a hussar.

Whilst down in Wiltshire for the Devizes comp, Nigel very kindly gifted me his 10mm Imperial Guard division from FOGN (Field of Glory Napoleonics), and although I had rebased the cavalry and generals (including painting some), the guard themselves were not finished. I scrabbled together a 900 Soldiers of Napoleon list (which turns out to be illegal, read the rules Will), and fielded it Vs Mark's undefeated Austrians. My army, including reserves, was twelve units and Mark could basically do that in two brigades! My list : Two brigades of two five Old Guard infantry, with two twelve pounders and full cassions. Guards Heavy cavalry brigade. Five Grenadiers a Chevel. Five Guards Dragoons. Three batteries of 8lber guns. Guards light cavalry brigade. Four Guards lancers, four Guards Chasseurs a Chevel. Three batteries of three 8lber guns. Mark had: An Avent Guard brigade with hussars, artillery, jagers and two infantry units, two dragoons with horse artillery as his cavalry brigade,An in...
