15mm Old Glory Arabs Commission - Hafsids for Adrian

In return for replumbing my house, I was asked to paint a Hafsid army for Adrian.

Hafsids? Who are Hafsids? They are an African Califate in modern Lybia and Tunisia. Adrian has picked a doozy here!

Figures from Old Glory/Timecast, transfers from Little Big Man Studios.

After nearly two weeks of self-isolation I am back at work, after having only the radio and my paints for company, thought I had better show what I was up to all those days..

Adrian kept borrowing his brother's and mine heay cavalry, so we decided that he needed some of his own!
Twelve bases of (mixed) Old Glory Arabic cavalry from seeral ranges. Flags were just to boost the looks.

These are done and the army is finished (well, done apart from the optional 9 stands of javelinmen skirmishers that I could do, but he's already got 36 javelinmen and now 6 archers).

Archers, Adrian has these in two sixes, but I had enough for an 8 and a 6, so why not?

All non-figures bits are converted from bits of my house that they worked on, the well is an drilled out hole from the upstairs loo, all stones from under my kitchen floor, the bolt holds down my downstairs toilet.

Featuring on figures from some of his units.

Based on an Archimedes screw and cistern.

Oh, and becuase every Arabic army has to have one...

Zoom!

Six foot skirmishers added to Adrian's army.

First 4 units

He likes his skirmishers.

Top view to show basing.

Another two (one more than is actually in his list, but it gives him some flexibility).

The rear view, after 76 of these, I really don't want to have to paint buttocks again for a long while!

Final two skirmish cavalry units for Adrian's Hafsid forces.

General finished up. Flags are historical (as far as I can find). Mix of foot, mounted and heavies. Quite enjoyed doing these.

Top-ish view

Rear view.

Altogether there are five units of light horse in the army! Talk about min/max!

Unit 1

Unit two

Quite like how these turned out.

Unit III

Two thirds of a cavalry horde. Ran out of transfers for units 4 and 5!

Top view of 2/5 of the cavalry horde.

First seven units are all short spear, shieldwall and integral shooters.

So many figures they will not all fit in my lightbox! (216 of them infact).

Not bad for two weeks work.

The random miniatures in my lead pile thread

Hi all, As the months go on, I am finding more random stuff that does not fit into any catagory is creeping it's way up to the surface of my lead mountain. I decided a few years back, rather than just throw it back like one of Nobby's escaped socks, I would actually paint some of them.   Nemisis the Warlock - Khaos; Deadlock; the Warlock; the Shape of Things to Come; the Lord of the Flies; Holder of the Sword Sinister; The Death Bringer One of my all-time favourite 2000AD characters (2000AD is a British sci-fi based comic for those not from the fair shores of Blighty). "Creedo!" I got hold of two of these on Evil Bay, one uncommon (yellow base rim), one rare (red base rim), so I trashed the rare one (and kept the base elsewhere). This is a simple conversion of a heroclix figure,  Excessus, Sword Sinister replaced, base ripped off and new one sculpted, undercoated figure,  completly  repainted, flying stem attached. Sometimes, you just need a seri

We can't stop them! +++Transmition ends+++   Four more crates. Because...   A few extra bits of usefullness to run the game next week. The stuff of nightmares, a pair of facehuggers! Really nasty idea Leaping to capture new victims Eeep! A pair of high tech computer terminals Living in electric dreams... Sure my Uni had these as high tech in t

6mm Pony Wars commission for a friend.

Friend asked me to do his Pony Wars kit now that Baccus have taken it over. Started off with the two bags of Native mounted figures. Over 200 of them! 72 in the first three bases of 24s. Top view, had fun posing one stand at least The rules suggest bases of up to 50! I went for breakable multiples such as 24. Back view Not the crisp view I was after, but you get the idea. 40 in five lots of 8s Allowing for flexibility. Scoot 48 in fours Top view Threes, ten bases making another thirty. Moving quickly. Top down Twos, twelve of - standard size of US troopers, useful as small change for locals! From above Back view Damn, missed one! And one broke off his base, so he's Hollywood loss (insert Wilheim scream here). Top view 33 ones (two were joined together and counted in the twos. Cantabrian anyone? Spinning maelstrom of Souix! Almost a whole A4 of riders.
