Phil and I met up for a game of Warband at Leighton Buzzard Wargames club.
I brought the armies, threw a few pieces of terrain on the table and we had a lot have a lot of fun.
Hugh Elves
+2 General (resolute & shieldwall)
+2 Mage
2 x Knights (fierce)
3 x Warriors (Resolute, shield wall)
2 x archers (formed, powerful)
1 x unicorns
Gobbos
+2 General (fierce)
+1 Mage
4 x Warriors (fierce)
2 x Archers
2 x Wolf Riders (one with hero)
1 x Trolls
Turn 1:
So, getting generals to move, even when boosted, on a +4, typical!

Goblins advanace, ELves sit back and wait. Skeleton stand used as measuring device!

Elven cavalry and unicorns come forwards, foot lags behind, while Elven archers move up to fire. Elven CinC fails to activate (it's a running theme with ELven generals).

Magic from the Shamen boosts the Wolf Riders who charge in on the Evelen Knights, while the unicorns pile into the Goblin Shamen, curtailing his casting abilities! Two Goblin warrior units are in prime position to cause carange but being an flank charge positions, but one fails to move, blocking the other in place! Big Jason in his chariot fails to move, again! On the right, Elven warriors smash into the Goblin warriors, while trolls pile in.

Archers swap shots, but the Elves, being powerful, will eventually wear down the Goblin archers. The Elven warriors smash into and push back the goblin warriors, while the Trolls struggle to hurt any of the resolute and shieldwall warriors.

The Goblin warriors, wanting to charge the Elven general and clear the way for the following unit to flank charge. Nope!

Superior Elven armour absorbs the hits from the Goblin Wolf Riders, while dealing out hits with aplomb. Archers and the Shamen hold off the rampaging unicorns.

Much back and forth, mostly back and backwards with my warriors!

OH COME ON! One move, one charge, nope...

Then it all went wrong!
Scarlet got off two spells that really hurt the Gobbo cause. Wisdom of the Ancestors, which gave Scarlet's forces the Hero ability, causing multiple hits across my forces. Then the next turn, he cast Blinding Glory, causing fear and extra protection. The Elven Mage also took two hits from the spell, but in return it caused a hit to all Goblin forces in 4 base widths, which with Elen ferocity, caused even more damage on my gobbos.
My force collapses. All that was left was one warrior who had not moved in ages, and Big Jason. The ELves had lost one units of spears! Drat!

Even getting utterly slaughtered, you can't hae a bad game of Warband! Scarlet even said he would give it another go.
