A teaching game of BKC IV in the Western Desert

Phillip and Martyn at the Leighton Buzzard club have been observing my games with Stephen Mark, Dave & David closely over the last few months, and when I asked Phillip whether he wanted a Napoleonics game, he said he really wanted to try BKC (and Martyn was invited to join in too, as he used to play back in the day with v.II), so we arranged a date. I put out two 1500 point combined forces lists and we played an encounter game so that they could enjoy learning the basic rules. We used the 'hits stay on' varient, and discussed the 'spread hits' system, but decided to keep fire at platoon for this game. They chose to join together and play against me, using the Germans (better command stats, therefore easier to use), terrain was closed on one side, more open on the other. Both armoured groups headed to the open flank, while infantry headed through cover on the closer left. apart from a small selection of British infantry that wasn't keen on moving of...

Blitzkrieg Commander VI. My DAK vs David's 8th Army in the Western Desert.

David & I met up at Leighton Buzzard for a BKC game, using his points of 2085, we put our lists together, David dusted off his troops, as he used to play Stephen at BKCII, and off we went. David's force: Co & 2 x HQs and FAO 2 x 25lbers 2 x Mk3 Honeys 5 x A13s 3 x Crusaders 3 x Valentines 3 infantry platoons in trucks 2 x 2lber portees It's a lot of armour and not much infantry! My force: CO & 2 HQs 3 x Panzer IIIJ 3 x Panzer IIIH 2 x Panzer IVD 1 x 222 2 x verteran infantry in Hannomags 1 x HMG & Mortar in truck 4 x infantry 2 x PAK36s 1 x Pak38s 1 x HMG 1 x Mortar 1 x motorcyclists A lot of infantry, but not much armour! For reference, in David's force; red counters donate killed, blue = surpressed and yellow show hits (we played the hits stay on varient) And indeed, so the my armour really went for it turn 1, well over the half way line, and ready to pick on David's 8th Army on my right. On the left, my infantry advances towards the village, w...

Mortal Gods: Mythic - Three sided scrap between Argonauts, Hades and Zeus

Tychon looked up at the rest of the Thespian Lochagos around the fire. The warband had had a quiet day, and were enjoying the last scraps of their meals. He nudged Polykratos and looked up at the rest of the gang as Jeff was starting to assemble and tune instruments. "You know it wasn't the only time I fought the Hydra..." "You never fought the Hydra!" Polykratos coughed. "Not once, not twice, not never!" "Oh I did, ask the archers, we were there." Tychon said with complete earnestness. "The second time, it was against a priest of Hades and a priest of Zeus, attacking a temple." "Never!" "Centaurs of Zeus, pushing into skeletons, as they moved across the area towards each other," Polykratos took a drink of wine from his goblet, and leaned back to listen.   Mark, Dave and I got together for another Mortal Gods scrap, this time with out 'Mythic' variant. My temple sat in the centre, terrain sat in each depl...

Thoughts of Chairman Meow, been a while!

Been a few years since I've had thoughts... Well, actually, I've written one of these posts a few times over the years, but not published. What am I thinking about wargames tight now? How am I feeling? What do I need/want/think? I'm feeling good. I am very happy with my local club (and it's only two streets away), and the range of games they play is huge. I have many good friends there, and it's always a great laugh.  I am loving Blitzkrieg Commander in 10mm for WWII, it's superb, and might have even just bought another force for it! Mortal Gods in 28mm for Ancient Greeks is going well and never fails to produce a good game, and it's a great pick up game. The odd Legion Imperialis and Burrows and Badgers or Pulp Alley are hilarious. More of that please.  Not done Soldiers of Napoleon for a bit, but it's still there on my top games list, and I've got a new unit for my 1806 Prussians, and two on the painting table right at this moment, after lord know...

Pulp Alley - Truck Troubles - Wakandan Reaquisition Squad vs Top Gang

Wednesday night, and as I came in from work, Mort had set up the game already with an interesting scenario. We both had to find and escort the survivor off table. A truck lies amid the ruins, surrounded by hints and plot points. That caused the ruins, or maybe the ruins were caused by the truck?   Princess Ch'lanreah, her faithful bodyguard Bhi Nadduruzi, Adazeh Tumbebo, S'yoma Usukla and N'Bube Meraba and all were up for another fight.Eminent anthropologist and art historian, Professor Pith-Helmet had joined the Wakandans again, following a hot lead on more vibranium relics that needed returning to the Kingdom. They were up against the might of Clarkson, Hammons, May and Schmidt and Top Dog, aided by The Shooty Stig.   Quickly, the Hamster reached the radio by the ruins. Typically for the Top Gang, he decided to solve the problem by shooting it to pieces! Shooty Stig moves left, while Sabine moves to investigate a barrel.  Adazeh Tumbebo's shield can be seen as h...
